The Insight Project
Explore Your Highest Spiritual Potential

The Insight Project teaches a process of self-discovery, leading to one's own, self-directed spirituality. This is quite different from sectarian teachings, like religion, which impose dogma, leading to other-directed spirituality. The course includes an in-depth exploration of the belief systems which make up the various facets of your personality, and therefore determine your identity (and hidden conflicting identities) and corresponding life goals. The intuitive wisdom of the emotions is accessed using simple biofeedback equipment, providing a path to full realization of the Higher Self - the spiritual power of life, love and truth.
Have you ever considered (perhaps somehow sensed) that who you are and what you are capable of must be more than your everyday life seems to suggest? Look at how most of us live - we endure our jobs, raise our families, handle life's challenges the best we can, and seek out whatever pleasures we can in the time remaining. Very few people seem to have a real certainty or direction to their lives.
The Insight Project is the ultimate tool for re-discovering just who you really are, stripped of the artificial and unnatural. From the more-objective, bird's eye view that is the Higher Self, it becomes possible to rise above the programming imprinted by the experiences and cultural conditioning of your current lifetime and beyond, as well as the programs genetically inherited. These insights bring wisdom: acceptance and understanding. One is no longer limited to an ego-centric identity, in contrast to one's true potential of unlimited love, life and truth.
The world is full of people who want to tell you what to believe and how to live. Experts in many fields, from politics to psychology to religion, are more than willing to step forward with a prescribed set of rules for you to follow. Yet, many of them are clearly as confused as the rest of humanity! Now, there is a way that you can find the answers for yourself using effective mental exercises and procedures.
We need to examine all the thoughts we have, the considerations and beliefs, and find out what's true and what isn't. And what actually belongs to somebody else... something somebody else told us and we've accepted. What's been imprinted or programmed, in other words. Stripping that stuff off (and letting go of the accompanying painful feelings and misguided behaviors) and finding what is our own inner truth. Because it comes from inside us it is pure and our inner knowing, from each of us as a spiritual being. It's based on universal knowledge, i.e. knowledge that is free of any kind of conditioning. The perspective is unconditional love.
To be free and independent we need to make our own mind up, to be both sensible and sensitive. We need to be objective and use reason and logic, but beware fixed ideas, prejudices and false assumptions carried over from past experience and conditioning. At the same time we need to take account of our feelings and intuition, as inner knowing is our mind's link to Spirit. Our intuition or inner guidance often isn't accessible in pre-packaged verbal sentences, it arrives in feelings, images, imagination, concepts and understandings - and we need to separate those from the other mental content, and then articulate them. We "just know" our inner truth, and it's this heart-felt nature that is the best guide. Fortunately, with the Biofeedback Monitor we have a way to clearly perceive what is happening in our emotional reactions, both conscious and subconscious. With the methods of the Insight Project (in particular the Indicator Technique (click for full description), we have a way to determine if a thought is rational (not emotionally burdened), a rationalization (or other thought distortion), something taken on board from others (i.e. a form of conditioning) - or one’s inner truth, an intuitive knowing, which the Monitor clearly indicates.
Trans4mind's advanced course, The Insight Project, is about upgrading your perception from blindfolded or blinkered 2D through to 20:20 vision in multiple dimensions... clearing all that obscures insight - your inner vision - the wisdom of your Higher Self, which is founded on Love.
How does The Insight Project work?
The Insight Project is a set of special procedures that you apply to yourself, with the aid of an Emotional Response Indicator, in order to differentiate the spiritual part of your being - the Higher Self - from the mental and physical. From the viewpoint of the Higher Self it becomes possible to rise above the programming imprinted by the experiences and cultural conditioning of your current lifetime and beyond. This is the process of "meta-programming": to go beyond or transcend programming.
You work at your own pace through a cleverly researched gradient of development. Early on, you learn the anatomy of problems. You discover the way that conflicts are structured within your mind such that they hang around and effect your feelings and behavior long after the original situations are gone.
The well-proven techniques are designed to resolve the conundrums, dilemmas and dichotomies that arise from being essentially spiritual and immortal, but living within a survival-driven body and environment. It is a life-enhancing approach, and holistic in that it is about integrating your spiritual life with all of your everyday activities and goals - in the here-and-now.
"I've only just started with the Insight Project and I decided to take a look. Truth be said I couldn't wait any longer. Solo over only a few hours spread out over a week, I started sorting it out in my head. It didn't feel disturbing and oddly what I knew to be true from before and was trying so hard to get rid of didn't change, but it was being replaced by simple yet bigger truths uncovered layer by layer and then this morning it finally all came together and the whole thing just blew apart! The meter showed a big release from major upset but I didn't need it to tell me I had a massive win - I knew it from the smile on my face and the feeling inside. Now I have a simple truth which overwrites astrology giving me motivation to push forwards.
"It's been a massive, massive win for me, this stuff really works!! Thank you! If this is all I ever have out of the Insight Project it's money well spent, but I feel potentially like this is only the tip of the iceberg of what Insight can help me achieve." ~ Steve Watkins
The use of a GSR (galvanic skin response) Emotional Response Indicator device facilitates the necessary element of neutral objectivity. The Emotional Response Indicator visually indicates the suppressed emotional content of thoughts and feelings, particularly fears and resistance. When thoughts are emotionally clear, on the other hand, they do not have this reactive undercurrent and can be trusted as one's intuitive knowing.
By means of a self-study program, The Insight Project delivers the most advanced gains available, all for a fraction of the cost and time of other methods. Whilst you can obtain great benefits very quickly, the vast range of techniques within The Insight Project can be re-applied over and over, as appropriate to your changing circumstances and viewpoint of awareness.
The factors that prevent awareness of the Higher Self (the non-physical essence of being) are dealt with in great depth, inspected much more thoroughly and incisively than any previous spiritual or meditative method has made possible, such that the results from this work, properly done, will cause an everlasting freedom of viewpoint. The procedures of The Insight Project are tools with which progress on the spiritual path may always be supported.
What are the benefits of The Insight Project?
We asked some students:
The benefits you can expect to obtain include:
- Discovery of the core Self that is the real you - find yourself at last!
- Discovery that the real you is spiritual in nature and immortal.
- Discovery that truth is an infinite resource within yourself.
- The ability to have love and understanding for all people in all situations.
- The ability to have empathy for all points of view without attachment.
- The ability to recognize all that you are responsible for and are causing, right now.
- The ability to face any situation with equanimity and wisdom, so your actions reflect the integrity of your self-knowledge.
- Freedom from personal upset, problems, guilt or shame.
- Freedom from being effected negatively by others' evaluations and invalidations and effects upon you.
- Freedom from the effect of lifetimes of painful experiences and the decisions that accompanied them, which you carry into the present.
- Freedom from the (self-imposed) karmic penalties of past mistakes, wrong-doings and ignorance.
- Release from attachment to the needs and fears, loves and hates that bind you, so you are free to achieve new or recovered goals that reflect your (unlimited) potential.
- Recovery of the great experiences and insights of past lifetimes, which you carry into the present but have negated.
- Find out what your true goals here on Earth are, and remove conflicts that underlie stress and confusion.
- A complete understanding of how the game of life operates and a remedy of all the games you play so that they are knowing and you can fly like a bird.
- Security that what you have achieved is everlasting, because finally you have leaned the crucial lessons of human existence, so that you don't have to keep coming back.

look at yourself in the PRESENT, for that is the past's effect.
PRESENT, for that is the cause of the future."--Majjhima Nikaya
How is The Insight Project different from other personal growth systems?
- The Insight Project is only concerned with NOW, the only real time, which is where reactive mental mechanisms are being created and re-created.
- You look objectively at all issues in the present time, now, which is the only stable position
- It is completely self-administered in your own home. You study the materials and put as much time into your advancement as you wish.
- There is complete confidentiality - no one needs to know of your work or the contents of your sessions.
- This is not a cult. There is nobody with authority or control over you and no pressure to be involved with an organization or to buy further services.
- There is no evaluation or invalidation of whatever insights you attain.
- The course is complete and self-contained - there are no missing techniques that will leave you stuck.
- You handle your own case (individual mental and spiritual structure), not some imagined case, generality or rote procedure. You are shown how to locate your own charged areas and handle them, so your sessions are tailor-made to your actual case. Only you can really know what is there, once you are trained how to look for it.
- The Insight Project is based on techniques that are known to work, not 'off the wall' speculation.
- Can be applied with benefit alongside other practices - there is no conflict with anything that is similarly aligned with objective awareness, responsibility and love.
- We do not get you involved in fascinating past life phenomena or psychic phenomena, which are unrelated to your case.
- All techniques enhance your causation and do not strengthen the perception of yourself to be at the effect of other causes. For example, the emphasis is on who or what you are opposing, not on who or what is opposing you, because that is the direction that leads to discovery of truth.
- It is not a 'one shot' procedure but involves many different handlings that form a pool of techniques, from which you choose specifically that which is appropriate to you, right now.
- We don't set evaluated and unrealistic end points - what you achieve is up to you and unique to you.
- It produces actual objective change in your life and way of being, not subjective changes that fall away whilst life remains the same.
- It works.
"I have made much more gain while working on The Insight Project than with all other things I've tried. There are many ways to look at a technique or a course in personal development, like The Insight Project. One way is to compare it with the other courses that are available “out there.” If you do, you will probably find that The Insight Project talks about different things than the other courses, no matter what courses you compare it with. In my experience, The Insight Project handles issues that no other course or technique out there even looks at! That is what makes it unique. With most other courses I have looked at or tried, I can sort of see where it fits in, what other courses/books/techniques it is similar to, but not this one.
"As Peter says on his web page, this one works, and in my experience, there are very, very few things out there in the field of personal development and/or spiritual development that really do work. One good thing about The Insight Project is that you don't have to believe any of the models put forward in the material to provide a framework for the techniques. You just have to practice them. It works no matter what you currently believe.
"Still, you may think “ok, if this is so good, why does it not handle the stuff that this other course deals with”. True, there are many things described by others that The Insight Project does not even mention. The Insight Project may or may not be “all you need for your path”. However, if you, after finishing the whole of The Insight Project, still feel like “I think I need to work with this other thing too,” I am confident that you will have got so many gains by working through The Insight Project courses that whatever you choose as your next step, you will find it to be much, much easier than if you had gone straight to it instead of first doing The Insight Project.
"So, what gains have I actually got from it? It is kind of hard to write about as most of it is very personal and would be hard to explain without writing a very lengthy essay. I have managed to break some habits that have caused me trouble for a long time. However, it is the insights that count for me: realizations about the life I live and the way I work, the patterns that I am caught in all the time, although I usually have no idea that they are even there until I find them in The Insight Project. The road to self-discovery is a very amazing one, at least that is what I have found. I think that The Insight Project is a very good way to walk that road."--L.P., Sweden
What do The Insight Project course materials contain?
The materials of the The Insight Project are extensive and in five separate Parts. Part I is called Meta-Programming, meaning "to transcend or go beyond programming" - to expose and let go of the conditioning of a lifetime or more. It covers 10 Levels or technical approaches that typically will occupy your time for a couple of years. The materials cover everything you need to know, from learning to do self-administered sessions using a Emotional Response Indicator, through to the most advanced techniques for spiritual self-realization available in the world at this time.
The Part I - Meta-Programming course contains the following Levels of application:
Training on the use of a Emotional Response Indicator in self-administered sessions, and how to apply some fundamental The Insight Project methods. These are put into practice with an exploration of your thoughts on many subjects to discover where the charge (suppressed emotional energy) in your case lies.
Level 2: Letting Go
You learn to assess lists of possible areas of charge and this is put into practice with full handlings of Life Stress, Upsets and Antagonism. You also learn how to Repair session mistakes.
Level 3: Clarity
Assessed areas of charge are looked at in great depth in terms of what is rational and what is illogical in the situations and your thinking about them.
Level 4: Vitality
You learn how to separate out the most charged item from a list you have made of possibilities, in answer to key questions. This is applied to the main factors that can reduce your life energy, such as people and issues that have a depressing influence on your life. Further, you learn to identify and handle the fixed ideas which are held onto as safe solutions to survival problems.
Level 5: Identity
Now you can start to spot and handle identities that you assume in certain situations and how these relate to unsolvable problems and suppression of your true purposes.
Level 6: Virtue
This Level looks at the issues that effect your self-respect and makes happiness possible in all areas of your life.
Level 7: Reality
Here you get to the nitty gritty, the factors that cause you to hold back from taking responsibility in the key areas of life that you most want handled.
Level 8: Stability
This Level contains a wide range of handlings, of all the issues that can threaten your emotional stability in varied circumstances, so that you can face any person or situation - and whatever comes up in session - with equanimity.
Level 9: Stuck Flows
When something goes on too long, whether good or bad, you start to feel overrun. This Level teaches how to restore the state of release that accompanies a good experience and how to identify and handle fixed states that are entrapping you.
Level 10: Goals
This is the real meat of the course and the procedure that the previous Levels have been preparing you for: the handling of Goal Conflict Structures. These are the hidden mental structures that underlie inner conflict and hold you unknowingly in fixed ways of being, which others can see but you are too close to and identified with to be able to recognize.
All these Levels serve to demonstrate the phenomena that inevitably occurs in life of the imprinting of fixed patterns of identities and resulting behaviors and feelings. Once spotted, this conditioning or programming has less effect, and you are to a significant extent released from the phenomena, much more your true self, and so you naturally begin to identify that part of your being that is the Higher Self - the spiritual component that is immortal. You've got your head above water and now you can learn to swim, to get on dry land, to climb the mountain and ascend to the stars.
Starting The Insight Project
The program of advanced self-analysis may begin when the student has achieved adequate objectivity of his or her mental processes to be able to work alone in this way. For some people, completion of the Explorations given in the text "Transforming the Mind" and the free Positive Approach course will be adequate preparation - my book (free to download) "Daring to Be Yourself" combines the two. Daily meditation is also recommended, such as the free Love is All You Need program offers.
The Insight Project is a set of analytical procedures that you apply to yourself, with the aid of an Emotional Response Indicator, in order to differentiate the spiritual part of your being from the mental and physical. Discover your Higher Self and its capability of Full Realization.
The Insight Project courses cover everything you need to know, from learning to do basic procedures in self-administered sessions, through to the most advanced techniques for spiritual self-realization available in the world at this time.

The Emotional Response Indicator is a type of biofeedback device specially designed to assist in psycho-therapeutic and personal development procedures. There are many situations in which it is extremely helpful to be able to detect the presence of emotionally charged, suppressed mental content just below or at the borders of subconsciousness. This is a tremendous aid in assessing which of many specific topics is most relevant to be treated and at the same time, such material is also accessible and readily viewable by the subject. This can save many hours of wasted searching and pondering. When you have used an Emotional Response Indicator for a short time you will wonder how it is possible to be effective in developmental therapies without one!
The recommended ThetaMeter™ is a small, hand held device that measures subtle changes in the electrical resistance of the body that occur in the presence of stress and emotional arousal, including changes that are below the awareness of the client, i.e. subconscious stimulations. Therefore it is a form of Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) biofeedback monitor. It is carefully designed to serve as a valuable guide in a remarkable number of healing modalities--from EFT, TFT and EMDR to traumatic incident reduction-- and is ideal for use on The Insight Project. It allows one to detect and pinpoint the presence of emotional "charge," and verify the progress of its resolution - a tremendous advantage for the practitioner. Note: on The Insight Project you are both the practitioner and the client at the same time, i.e. it is a self-delivered method of personal development.
The ThetaMeter™ will detect the presence of, and measure the progressive release of, suppressed emotions. This makes it invaluable for guiding the practitioner through the successive steps of any effective therapy or application of positive psychology. Furthermore, with skill - and full training is provided as part of the Insight Project - the Emotional Response Indicator can be used to assess a number of likely or possible issues, and ascertain the one with the most "emotional charge" at the moment that is most accessible to be effectively handled. It will also show when you - the client - is upset; and it will indicate when you are "released" from the issue being handled.
In addition to the ThetaMeter™, any Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) psycho-galvanometer will do the job, providing there is instantaneous and easily visible readout of changes of body resistance. Read more about GSRs here - plus we provide a free PDF course on how to use a GSR meter.
Interview with Peter Shepherd
Peter is interviewed by Dr. Keith Scott-Mumby, who asks about his background, how and why Trans4mind was founded, what spiritual growth means in practice, and the heights that can be reached with The Insight Project, which Peter developed and supervises.
Beyond Part I...

Parts I-V of the Insight Project
The techniques of Part I - Meta-Programming are proving to be a most effective method for each of us to discover our full potential. The Insight Project works to realize and integrate the Higher Self, the true spiritual Being. We can be at rest in this awareness, like the eye of a storm. The world whirls all around, in the field of consciousness. This "I" is both an observer and a constant center of all the activity. It is only at this center, having dis-identified from the many controlling forces, that the person achieves freedom, to master, direct and utilize them. Being at the center, the observer can also be seen as the experiencer, able to more fully experience inner and outer events and to become unafraid of living. The free person can move around in his personality and in the world, instead of being locked into fixed and safe patterns, and in that way can be in touch with unlimited potential for experience
The Part I course contains the fundamental principles and techniques of the complete Insight Project. You learn to apply the Emotional Response Indicator in the context of profound personal development procedures. On a well-proven gradient you gradually become skilled in working on your own with the techniques.
Part II - New Awakening exposes the environmental reactivation and the behavior patterns the individual is stuck in, as he can now view this material objectively. It is the deprogramming of reactive compulsions and inhibitions - the needs and fears that are the barrier to full realization. It produces a full state of clarity, much like that of the Buddhist who - over many lifetimes of meditation - has learned to no longer be a slave to his egotistical desires. But this is learning achieved much more directly, in this lifetime.
Part III - Own Goals uncovers the layers of decisions, evaluations and considerations that the Higher Self is acting on and that caused the Being to descend into inappropriate agreements. On this Part all the material broached on Parts I and II is finalized and any loose ends resolved, so that the highest level of being is now fully accessible.
Part IV - Higher Games deals with the Games Beings Play and get stuck with, like the Physical Universe. The matrix of postulates of the Higher Self, on which the individual has been operating in this and other time continuums, are revealed with all their ramifications and significances, so that the Being is extroverted from all stuck (unknowing) Games.
Part V - Full Realization is the culmination of the Project. Games and Conflict Structures are viewed both as Player and Opposed Player, revealing the ways in which Beings individuate and lose touch with their shared spirituality. The blocks to Full Realization are removed and this state is confirmed and stabilized.

The Insight Project - Testimonials
Many mystics have had deep experiences into the state of things, and tried to tell others about it. Things like, "We are all one," "Everything is an illusion," "There is no self," and so on. Those who were told didn't have the experience behind the words, so it stayed being - just words. They could probably see the change in the mystic, but it still was - just words. Huge philosophies have been built around those original experiences, built by people who did not themselves have any idea about what the experience was, who did not have any idea of how to get such experiences themselves. We read about those philosophies, and wonder what it is all about.
So, how does one get true spiritual insights? There are many courses out there, many books with techniques that you can try, there usually exist at least one who talk about how wonderful insights they got from following whatever path. I have been there myself, taking weekend classes, doing yoga and meditation for many years and so on. My experience is that for the eastern methods to be effective, you must devote your whole being to them. Meditation was, at least for me, an effective way to gain insights ONLY when I spent a week or more doing nothing besides meditating from early morning to late evening. Others who took the same path as I did agreed with that. If you want, you can go to the extreme of Tibetan Buddhism, where you lock yourself into a room for 3 years, 3 months and 3 days and just meditate all the time, in order to get an understanding of the deepest spiritual truths.
However, there are many who are not prepared to go to such an extreme. You may feel that spiritual development should not be sought by denying oneself the other aspects of life. You may feel that if one goes such a path, then the value of the insights that you get are of questionable value, for how will you ever get a chance to apply them, if you cannot use what you gain in your daily life along the way? "Life is for the living."
Then we have The Insight Project. In my experience, it is most effective when living a normal life in society with work and all that, spending some time every day with metaprogramming. As a comparison, spending the same amount of time daily for meditation did not give me anything. For that I just had to go to a retreat to get anywhere.
I have now finally reached the end. Yes, I did reach it by working with it a little every day. Sometimes a lot, sometimes a little, but I never had to go the extreme path to get there. Also, I could not spend too much time on it daily, because I always felt like I needed to do other things after a session, go out and meet people, to see in my response to them and in my reactions to others, what had really happened in my sessions.
Although there have been many high points along the way, the most important one was when I got an experiential understanding of one of these great mystical truths and that became my own end-point of the project. I did not believe that you could have an insight that explained so much at once. I believed (through experience) that many insights along the way are what changes things, but this was truly different. Something important has shifted for me, and I have a knowing that no matter what happens from now on, the work that I have done on this will help me forever. In my daily life, I can see that an important shift has occurred in my relating to others, which for me validates the whole thing.
How will I use this new awareness, and what will it mean in my life? I honestly have no idea, and will have to let time tell what will happen, but I very much look forward to working with that.
I have been doing solo sessions EVERY DAY and I have noticed my moods stabilizing. I am less irritable, more calm, even though I do have my moments :), more hopeful about the future and am actually getting up off my butt and taking care of things that previously I would not confront.
That's REALLY a BIGGIE for me Peter. You helped save my life... I was in VERY bad shape as you know but since I'm now doing The Insight Project every day, well I haven't felt this good in years!! And I'm just getting started with the materials! I don't know if you have testimonials on your site but if you do feel free to use what I say any way you please.
It's like, I do a session each day and the charge I get off in session doesn't get triggered in my day. I feel more resilient, present and focused. And when something does come up during the day, I feel confident knowing that I have the tools to handle it.
Thank you Peter... I really wasn't ready to die... it just felt like it.
How far you take things is up to you and it depends upon your goals. For many people they struggle in several areas of their life for their whole life. Some people deal with these things and happily enjoy living. Fewer enjoy the challenge of taking it further. As someone put it to me, it's like the ultimate computer game. And just as a kid can get sucked into an arcade game we can also get sucked into physical life (from being a spiritual being) believing we are only our bodies and everything matters. Shakespeare had a quote, something like: were are merely actors on the stage of life. Which to me is so true. From one viewpoint, it can be seen as just a game and it doesn't really matter if you win or lose, if you can remember that and pull yourself back out of whatever you get stuck into - in fact when you can do this you have won by default as you're not trapped in the game. And of course, games are fun!
Do you experience what you believe or believe what you experience? I.e. do your beliefs come from your experiences in life or vice versa? Some take the view that our experiences are based upon our beliefs and not the other way round. This is a half-truth as many of our beliefs are shaped or formed as a result of our experiences. These however can consequently effect our future experiences. It is a play on both aspects of this. However they are both worth recognizing as being important aspects of how we can create undesirable conditions.
I've been working on The Insight Project for about two and a half years. This has been on and off though, as I've had a lot of external changes in my life. Part of the effort for me was just getting to grips with the methods used on the course. There is a lot of information but if there is one thing that really matters it's, of course, Indicator Tech - the crown jewels as Peter would say!
If you were to work with this alone and spend 20-40 minutes a day handling things that were troublesome you would be rocketing out of your old patterns. For me things just tended to unravel as I spent time on it. Finding the 'Substitute Beingness', which I managed with Peter's help, was highly important and it didn't hit me until recently that much of the other stuff I'd worked on stemmed from this. This is the accessible core, which effectively is you or what you believe you are, although it's very concealed by all the other stuff. The truth is, it's not really you but it's created with so much force (or will) and compounded by many different things that it's hard not to see it as you.
With work you can take this down and eventually you will realize how so many of the struggles and conflicts and issues in your life have been a direct result of this. I don't think you will ever see life the same way again after this.
I now realize just how impacting and far-reaching the Substitute Beingness is. It seems to be underlying so much if not all of one's life experiences. It really is like a program you're running off effecting all of your behavior. And it's so unbeknown until you start to handle it and notice how you have been acting from it for so long. Water to a fish for sure.
I had no idea then just how far-reaching or important this is, to what had been holding me back so much. I'm feeling quite astounded right now. I feel joy, relief, immense gratefulness, some confusion and still a bit angry about what went on to put all this into play. I don't think anyone can guess the magnitude of what is being dealt with in this.
For me right now I have an inner-laughter at the way the world works. I don't tend to get caught up in things and if I do it's very easy to let it all go. I'm not saying this came only from The Insight Project but it has been a major factor in finding something that I'd lost for a very long time. Me!
And you know what.... There's more where that came from.
I have been working with Insight techniques for 20 years. It's the best method you can have on this planet. But that's why it's the most challenging, too.
The original version was unapplicable for most of those who tried. Peter Shepherd put it into a form that's relatively easy to work with. Nevertheless you will need help, to be able to handle your actual case, and Peter will be first option, if you're an English native speaker.
But maybe you will also need some traits of this "lonesome loser" ... bright and loving, but generally treated like a thief, not too successful, but never giving up, and able to take his chance - as one or two out of a hundred are.
I feel like a castaway hitting home shore, at last.
And home shore is myself,
And myself is founded in Spirit.
Take your chance, if you are able to.

From the viewpoint of the Higher Self it becomes possible to rise above the programming imprinted by the experiences and cultural conditioning of your current lifetime and beyond, as well as the programs genetically inherited. The most advanced techniques currently available are used to take down the structures that restrict the Being to an ego-centric identity, in contrast to one's true potential of unlimited love, life and truth.
An excerpt from the introductory course materials, giving a detailed description of the principles on which The Insight Project techniques are based.
The truth that lies within us, independent of external experience, learning and the views of others, is intuitive spiritual knowledge called "gnosis." The Insight Project is a Gnostic school for the modern age. Students use biofeedback to show suppressed emotional content of thoughts and feelings, particularly fears and resistance. When thoughts are emotionally clear, and when they do not contain repressed conflicting intentions, they do not have this reactive undercurrent and can be trusted as one's intuitive knowing, one's gnosis. Using the unique Insight techniques, your inner truth is uncovered, deeper and deeper as you peel off the layers...
We are like players of a video game - we get so involved in the game that we forget that we are playing a game. We forget our true nature. This article by Ken Ward is a thought-provoking introduction to some of the basic ideas of The Insight Project.
Personal development has, as one of its aims, to transcend the human condition. If one's consciousness survives death, then the motivation to achieve this becomes far stronger. Frederick Myers recognized this as a critical question for all intelligent people and worked relentlessly to provide us with a solid proof of life after death.

Your Questions Answered...
Where do I start?
When you get onto The Insight Project, you'll need regular time to devote to that, preferably a session (15-90 minutes) every day.
Note that these courses are personal and spiritual development, they are not a substitute for one-to-one psychotherapy or medical treatment, when these are needed. Though there is certainly a therapeutic element, because they are home-study these courses are for normally happy, healthy and stable individuals looking to enhance their quality of life further.
Where does the name "Meta-Programming" come from?
I use the word because it is appropriate to the course I designed, which encourages an external and directorial viewpoint toward the mind and its existing programs; to "go beyond" one's existing programming or life conditioning; to view, understand and transcend their structure and limitations. The higher consciousness being the programmer, established cognitive programs being the software, the cerebellum being the CPU. Meta-Programming, then, is a metacognitive function of mind, developing mindfulness or a witness viewpoint. Recently NLP itself is adopting that view - see here.
Can The Insight Project aid me in my journey?
"In my view, The Insight Project is without doubt the safest, soundest and most powerful method of self-development available. After searching for countless years and unsuccessfully trying many different approaches, I've finally found my path. Peter's personal coaching has made possible for me to achieve in a few months what I thought would take a lifetime."
