Life Transition: Holistic Wellness
Commentary by Peter Shepherd

“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity.” ~ World Health Organization, 1948
Health is more than diet and exercise... how you live, what you think, your attitude and how you respond to stress are equally important.
“Just because you're not sick doesn't mean you're healthy. Good health is not just the absence of pain or disease but positively feeling good in the whole of our being, and therefore includes lifestyle, mental attitude, and ways of relating to all living beings and nature.” ~ Peter Shepherd
Emotional stress is the primary way that the mind affects the body. Unresolved and suppressed feelings create significant stress, adding to the toxic load caused by physical disfunction and harmful nutrition, and tips the scales over the top. Opening up to painful feelings, experiencing them and realizing they are our own creation and therefore a choice, enables us to release and let go of the stress they cause. “The best six doctors anywhere - and no one can deny it - are sunshine, water, rest, air, exercise and diet.” ~ Wayne Fields
And on the last, Anne Wigmore said, “The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poisoning.”

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will instruct his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.” ~ Thomas Edison
Patrick Holford, my teacher at the Optimum Nutrition Institute in London, said: “The medicine of the future will no longer be remedial, it will be preventive; not based on drugs but on the optimum nutrition for health.” See the Trans4mind site based on what I learned... Optimum Nutrition: Medicine of the Future.
“When the mind, body and spirit work as one, anything is possible.” ~ Criss Angel
Beauty is the spontaneous expression of a harmonious mind, body and spirit. And as Deepak Chopra points out, “...happiness is the natural result.”
“The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.” ~ Buddha
Doesn't mean you don't learn from the past, or plan for the future, but there's no need to fret yourself that things weren't as they were, aren't as they are, or might be worse. Simply to LIVE without giving yourself those headaches, and therefore to have the free consciousness to be able to perceive what is, to be grateful and be happy.

Paying attention to physical and mental health is the most important daily matter for everyone. There are lots of support groups that offer safe places where you can get information that’s practical, constructive, and helpful. In the process of communicating gently and honestly with others, we are often able to express our frustrations and find some comfort. This is an effective way to heal. And such an organization can also provide members with items to deepen their friendship and identity with each other.

The Holistic Approach to Personal Wellbeing ~ by Peter Shepherd
Various levels of our life exist concurrently. The truth from the view at a higher level is that there is no difference between you and me, me and an animal, you and a tree, my wife and myself, our family members, our community, one place and another, our nation, the human family - the separation is an illusion. There are physical differences but not in this higher sense. We're different but at the same time, we're not. That's metaphysics for you - it's hard to see the logic because it's not logic, it's being. It's truth you experience, that you feel. It's a vibration. Continues...

So is the old adage, “A leopard doesn’t change his spots,” true? That people can’t change? No, people can change! Continues...
