You do what you feel in your heart is right, and you are content. Justifiably so. Others may interpret your actions differently but that's up to them... their own motives, beliefs and projections. As Abraham Hicks said, "People will love you. People will hate you. And none of it will have anything to do with you."
Be the change you wish to see in the world. It starts at home, anything less would be hypocritical. Then your influence shines like a beacon.
Resistance is of the mind, of the ego. Acceptance of what is, on the other hand, takes you immediately into a peaceful, timeless state of simply being.
Use 'things' as tools, that's what they're for, but not people: using people means to take advantage of them, to manipulate them as tools to gain an end. It's the opposite of love. If we are in love with our material possessions, we are set up for loss, as all things pass away. Love of another never dies, though, because spirit is forever.
