If you believe you can do something, then you almost certainly can, provided you are open to learning. Simple as that. As Winston Churchill said, "Success is the ability to go from one failure to another, with no loss of enthusiasm."
If we neglect to be fully conscious of the present then life passes us by; in effect, we are asleep. This is why it is important to apply our mindfulness skills in everyday life - not only in meditation.
Ability is not the end of the story. We all know of highly talented people who have got nowhere in the competitive world we live in. It takes real character to get to the top and stay there.
We are not so much limited by our abilities as by our vision. If we can see something worth achieving that aligns with our capabilities, then we can go for it. That may well involve heightening our ability - through education, practice and obtaining assistance - to the level our goal demands.
That's why we all have a chance in life. We just have to value and develop our talents and express them creatively and confidently. Stevie Wonder put it this way: "We all have ability. The difference is how we use it."
In the final analysis, when everything is said and done, your character is more important than your talent. You see it all the time. People with talent often make it into the limelight, but without a strong character, they rarely stay there very long. Their absence of a strong character eventually topples them. The quality of your life, your relationships, and your career is deeply affected by your character or lack of it. So go ahead and put some extra thought into the character you are building.
