What Can I Do About my Feelings of Loss, Sadness and Grief?
After reading many self-help books, I am still trying to find my purpose in life. I am now 34 years old and I feel so lost. I am trying some meditation. But somewhere along the way, I feel sad and lost. I feel that there is more to life than all this. I hope you can help me in some way.
I am wondering if meditation is the right thing for you at the moment. When we are full of sadness and grief the main need is to explore these buried emotions. The right time to take up meditation is when we have emptied ourselves of our buried pain, sadness and grief.
Our inner pain is like weeds that grow in a field. If we want to grow a spiritual crop then we firstly need to clear out the weeds. We can “pull out the weeds” by getting in touch with and expressing our pain through a variety of techniques. If you feel drawn to explore this then I recommend my book Unfold Your Wings and Watch Life Take Off. Once your Heart is free of buried pain then purpose and direction will come into your life quite naturally and you can begin to grow spiritually through meditation.
