How Urban Cave Dwellers Can Heal the Earth!
~ Chief Seattle, 1854

Native people often have an innate appreciation for and understanding of the natural world. I have a nephew in California who lived for up to 6 months at a time with an indigenous tribe in the Amazon jungle. He said being so totally immersed in the foliage of the jungle for months on end meant that at times he experienced himself as totally at One with the jungle, rather than a separate person who lived in the jungle.
I myself have had this experience when walking through a park in my home city of Belfast. And many times I have experienced Being, an intense grounded connection to Presence and to Mother Earth, when I used to assist my friend Andrew McKibbin in his work as a conservation woodsman in Glencraig, a curative community for people with special needs where he lives. It was carrying all those logs out of the woods that did it - the powerful energy of the felled Oak and Beech trees coursing through my chakra system.
Native people may be light on academic knowledge but are very strong on Presence - the capacity to Be Here Now. My old friend Sai Baba used to say that the educated often find it more difficult to be at peace. The more highly developed analytical mind of the educated person causes a greater tendency to separate, to cleave away from their environment and to separate into experience and experiencer.
And yet Peace and Presence is where our human experience merges seamlessly with the natural world and with one another. This allows an intensity of belonging and relationship often totally missed and even forgotten by the world's teeming city dwellers. And yet we are all cave men and cave women living in an urban jungle, so it's in this jungle where we need to experience the beginning and ending of time.
And now is the time - for the world can wait no longer for healing.
So how can we, the urban cave dwellers, come back to ourselves and know ourselves perhaps for the first time?
It's a big big question and one we have sought to answer here at Trans4mind. Our online workshops and coaching are designed to help each person at the point in their life where they are going through a transition - when change is happening. It's at that point that the urban cave dweller experiences their life challenges at their most intense. And it's at this point that the urban cave dweller becomes more aware of his inner pain and consequent separation.
It is said that man's difficulty is God's opportunity. And these moments of transition create for each person a window of opportunity, perhaps with the assistance of a Trans4mind Coach, in which the person learns to listen to the quiet whispering of his heart, the Divine voice of his soul calling him to Wake Up and to Become. What the person needs to become may only at first speak in a whisper, but with help the person can recognise this still, small voice as guiding him along his very own healing path. Given the right training and support the person can transform so that he can experience Oneness while in the urban jungle, and Oneness with all the other cave dwellers who live there.
Such transformed people can and do then find each other and act to soften and harmonise. Healing power is released into the hardened concrete and steel of the typical 21st Century City.
"Whatever we do to the web we do to ourselves." Chief Seattle did not have a degree in environmental science. He was not educated in the modern sense. But he had the understanding that is born from Presence and from Oneness. He understood his own and our place in the scheme of life. And it is that self same Presence, when awakened in those of us who are urban cave dwellers, that will empower us to weave a different web and to transform this planet and all who dwell therein, through an enlightened singular consciousness.
Then Humankind will allow every form of life and we will walk as Gods on Planet Earth, planting, repairing, inventing, empowering and singing.
