In Trans4mind Training, we have a workshop on Asking Powerful Questions.
During this workshop participants are trained in why questions are needed, in the value of questions and in when and how to ask a great question.
But if questions are so powerful, here I want to ask - What is the world's greatest question?
Several candidates come to mind.
How can I become wealthy?
What makes for a happy marriage?
How can I find inner peace?
And these are all great questions, but in my opinion the greatest and biggest question is...
Who am I?
If you have asked this question you have opened up the possibility of uncovering the secret of wealth, marriage and inner peace at one and the same time.
Who am I?
Do you know?
Why is this question so important?
This question is the most important because the world does not live "out there," it lives inside you. So to answer this question is to uncover not only the secret as to your own identity, but also to understand the whole of life.
Think of a person you currently dislike. What are your feelings about this person when you think of them - fear, anger, frustration? What are your beliefs - they are selfish, they don't care, they don't listen?
Where do these feelings reside? In you! Where do these beliefs reside? In you! Does the existence of these feelings and beliefs help shape the relationship you have with this person? Most certainly they do.
If we choose to look deeper we see that the world actually does not exist without an observer. Quantum physics has proven that the world is a mass of vibrating energy. It is we who perceive it and give it form and colour. It is we who make the world and our experiences in it mean something.
So we can see that the world exists entirely within us.
So who are we, that person who gives form, color and meaning to what is experienced?
Before we consider this question let's gain clarity on who we are not. Are we our feelings? Can this be true when they are always changing? Are we our beliefs? Can this be true when what we believe also changes from day to day?
Intuitively we know that we have a permanence, even if who we are cannot be seen.
So who am I?
To help us consider this question, I'd like to ask another. What is it that is permanent and unchanging within you that allows you to see and change your feelings and beliefs? What or who is the bedrock of your existence?
I am writing this on the last day of 2016 and I want to invite you to take the world's greatest question into 2017 and beyond and to ask within for an answer.
For this question can best be answered by discovering who you are not. This means that to ask this question and to contemplate it, is to uncover the holy grail of personal development.
For with some questions the value is not in the answering, but rather in the asking and in the contemplation of the question itself!
So I wish you a wonder-full year ahead from the last day of 2016.
