Surrendering to Love

Surrendering to Love

Surrender is often advocated as a spiritual attribute. In this sense it means surrender to God's will. But this is not at all the same as surrender in battle, or giving up if the going gets tough, or passively agreeing with whatever anyone says without discernment, or abandoning your hopes.

The Other Side of the Coin

The Other Side of the Coin

When your belief system, politics and lifestyle are different from others, do you judge them and resist who they are and how they live their lives? That depends on whether your motivation is love based or fear based, and that depends on where your ego is at, right now. We need to train our ego to be aligned with love instead of fear, so that it then becomes a transparent mental interface to the spirit.

The Value of Loving Service

The Value of Loving Service

Service is about connecting in a meaningful way, which therefore gives our life purpose. This way we discover our essence, our truth, our love. To be of loving service we draw on our conscience, our religion and our values.

Left Right Brain

Two Ways of Knowing

Our task is to free ourselves from the cultural trance of indoctrination and the burden of suppressing a painful past... to live life spontaneously and at the same time in objective consciousness, so we can respond wisely rather than react impulsively.

Rational Person

What is an Intelligent and Rational Person?

Our schooling usually serves to develop only limited aspects of our intelligence - we have more to do to really understand life and develop the full capacity of our potential, such that our rationality is multi-dimensional and serves both ourselves and others, and expresses our true inner self with great integrity.

Holistic

The Holistic Approach to Personal Wellbeing

The mind, body and spirit interact and I think it's important to understand how this works, in order to adopt a comprehensive and effective means of personal development. We do best to work as holistically as is feasible - all the aspects of our being affect each other. We are whole and we are miraculous.

Transitions

The Ins and Outs of Life Transitions

Life is always changing, growing and evolving. This means everyone experiences transitions in their life. And in modern life, change and growth are happening more quickly, and are often forced upon us, so that each of us will face many transitions in the course of a lifetime.

The Path of Love

The Path of Love

Love is the source of universal truth, therefore the perfect guide in our lives, and we each have an unlimited supply within us because it is who we are. We are made by Love, we are made of Love, and we are made for Love.

Winter Solstice 2016

Winter Solstice

This may be a difficult time but it may also be a great time, a time of ascension for Mankind, a time to reclaim our freedom and rights. A time for the light of Love to take over from the shadows of fear and hatred. A time to reclaim our true nature.

Daring to be Yourself

Daring to be Yourself

To better our position, to be able to open up our space and express our true desires, we first need to come to terms with our situation. Our true nature is an expression of love and that is the quality that we need first to rediscover in our consciousness.

My Transformational Moment

My Transformational Moment

I felt exhilarated and more powerful than at any time in my life, like I'd broken free of the bonds that were tying me down. I felt grateful to be alive and full with love.I realized that underneath all of this trauma was really a tremendous opportunity; it was clearing the decks for me to do what I'd always really wanted to do, what I was born to do.

Our Spiritual Path

Our Spiritual Path

Gnosis is emancipation through the direct experience of knowledge, i.e. through insight. The knowledge that you will find within your self is all that is necessary for you to experience your own truth, your immortal identity, freedom from limitation, and genuine happiness.

Light of Insight

True or False? The Light of Insight

Concepts of the duality, or two-sidedness, of human nature and thought have been postulated by philosophers and scientists from many different times and cultures. The key idea is that there are two parallel 'ways of knowing': thinking and feeling, intellect and intuition, objective analysis and subjective insight.

Life is a School

Life is a School of the Spirit

“Life is a school of the spirit, Aidan,” Ruadh intoned with gentle insistence. “Learning is our soul’s requirement, and suffering our most persuasive teacher.”

Power of Belief

The Power of Belief

Our beliefs strongly influence our behavior. They motivate us and shape what we do. But what are beliefs? How are they formed and how do we maintain them?

Wheel of Life

The Wheel of Life

The Gnostic teaching - as found all the way back to the most ancient of literature, such as the Indian Vedas - is about discovering our own essential nature, which is good already, so that we can live spontaneously.

Judge me not

Judge me not... oh, go on then!

Making a judgment (which can and should be open minded) is easily confused in meaning with a 'judgmental' condemnation (which is closed minded). We need discernment; we don't need prejudice and intolerance of another's differing point of view.

Cycle of Action

The Cycle of Action

You need to align your way of being and your actions with a goal or a vision that is inspiring and motivating, and above all authentic - true to your own desires and ethical values.

Why People Behave As They Do

Why People Behave As They Do

Here I'm describing the way the mind works, so as to understand why people behave the way they do. If we understand that, then we can look at our own motives and start to see where we are coming from.

Hearts Desire

Your Heart's Desire

We can make every effort to recognize our feelings and to see where they come from, the roots of our identity. To drop the safe solutions of the past that our ways of being represent, to confront our fears and expand our boundaries, to follow our heart's desire.

Dimensions of Creativity

Dimensions of Creativity

One can approach tasks in one's life in a positive, creative manner or in an ineffectual, at worst destructive manner. These are the various dimensions involved. They're a good way of assessing where a person is at.

Empower Yourself!

Empower Yourself!

Empowerment means we determine the direction of our lives. We are responsible for our existence. We are in control. We have exercised our power to change and create - and to begin and to end.

What is Love?

What is Love?

How could one define love? It is put most simply and beautifully, I feel, in the words of Joni Mitchell: "Love is touching souls." Loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life in a way that that nothing else can.

Our Ascending Needs

Our Ascending Needs

Maslow described a hierarchy of human needs in which our basic survival is the first priority, and the needs concerned with our highest potential follow on when other needs have been met, toward self-actualization and then transcendent truth.

Turning the Tide

Turning the Tide

The issue of self-esteem is central to happiness. If people can't express their feelings and work toward accomplishing their real needs and goals, they will suffer and they will often make others suffer too.

The Spiritual Way

The Spiritual Way

The Creator is equally a part of the Created. Cause and effect are intertwined. Understanding is to be found in realizing that the layered or hierarchic structure of our world actually has a unity.

The Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction

A vision has to be genuine, specific and what you truly want, and any conflicting beliefs exposed and released. Otherwise wishes and prayers can be, in effect, the avoidance of a reality that one is unwilling to face.

Making Things Happen

Making Things Happen

Manifestation can be spiritually empowered. With the right spiritual, mental and emotion preparation, things seem to 'just happen' or fall into our lap. In practice that's not the whole picture.
