Shimla, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh, is one of the popular tourist destinations due to numerous sightseeing places, pleasant weather, beautiful landscape, and various adventure activities. Mall Road

It is a popular tourist spot in Shimla and always buzzing with activity. It is located at the heart of Shimla, and a stroll on Mall Road would give a feel of this vibrant city. You must add Mall Road as part of your Shimla tour. You can shop for local handicrafts, dig in the local cuisines, or just roam around to soak in the atmosphere.

Jakhoo Hill & Temple

This is an important tourist spot in Shimla. Jakhoo Hill is the point in Shimla which is known to be the highest point, and it is the place where you can easily walk to the top. If not, you can hire a cab to reach the top. At the peak, there is a Hanuman temple.

It also has a 108-feet tall statue of Lord Hanuman. Legends claim Lord Hanuman rested on top of Jakhoo Hill while on his way to get Sanjivni booti for Lakshman. The top gives a beautiful view of Shimla and a sight to cherish for a lifetime.

Christ Church

No visit to Shimla is complete, with a stop at Christ Church, the second oldest church in India. The church is popular for its Neo-Gothic architecture and paintings showing Jesus Christ’s life. It also features a Pipe Organ, the largest in the Indian subcontinent, five stained windows that depict Christian values, and a large round the clock in the front of the building.

The calm and serene atmosphere at Christ Church gives you the chance to meditate peacefully. A Bollywood movie titled ‘Black’ featuring superstar Amitabh Bachchan was shot here. It is open on all days.

Shimla State Museum

This used to be the residence of British officer Lord William Beresford, who was posted as Military Secretary to then Viceroy of India, Lord William Bentinck. It was turned into a museum in 1974, and then, it is a popular visitors spot in Shimla.

The museum is home to various sculptures in wood, metal, and stone. It also houses paintings dating to the Mughal era and features a library with over 10,000 books and journals.

Kali Bari Temple

Situated on top of the Bantony Hill in Shimla, Kali Bari Temple is an architectural marvel dedicated to Goddess Shyamala, after whom Shimla is named. The top offers a panoramic view of Shimla, with important landmarks such as Old Bus Stand and the Jakhoo Temple visible from here.

You can also view the Himalayan ranges from the top here. The temple was originally located in Jakhoo before it was shifted to Bantony Hill by the Britishers. You can savour the prasadam here. It is open on all days.

Himalayan Bird Park

This park is a heaven for nature and bird lovers and should be a part of your Shimla tour. It is also known as Himalayan Aviary and is home to various types of plants and rare birds. You can sight birds such as peafowl, pheasants, and peacocks here.

Summer months are the best for visiting Himalayan Bird Park. In winter months the park is closed due to heavy snowfall. Entry fee: Rs 10 per (adult) and Rs 5 (child).


Located about 20 km from Shimla, this tiny hill station is home to an 18-hole golf course built by Lord Curzon. The British officer also named one of his daughters Alexandra Naldehra as he was so impressed by the beauty of this place.

The Shaily Peak is a major attraction here, and the trail is 8 km long but slightly steep to test the best fitness enthusiasts. However, the top gives you an enchanting and unforgettable view. Hence, this place is perfect for a romantic getaway with your partner and must be part of your Shimla tour.


Kufri presents a beautiful landscape in the backdrop of Himalayan ranges. It is famous for its adventure activities such as hiking, skiing, paragliding, and tobogganing. Among its many adventure activities in Kufri Fun World, go-karting is extremely popular as you get to drive with the Himalayan peak in the background. You can also undertake a donkey ride to Mahasu, the tallest peak in Kufri, and sight a beautiful view of the city.

Chadwick Falls

This waterfall is located in the dense Glen Forest and about 7 km from Shimla. It falls down a gorge from a height of about 86 m and makes for great viewing. The greenery, mostly pine and deodar trees, surrounding the waterfall adds to the beauty of the place that you can review. You can even go ahead and stand under the waterfall, take a cold bath, and play with water with your partner or group of friends.
