2021 Toyota Corolla vs 2021 Mazda3:
Which Offers Better Value for Your Money?

If you are in the market for a sedan that is comfortable, safe, convenient, fuel-efficient and fun to drive, you have two options: the 2021 Toyota Corolla and the 2021 Mazda3. Both vehicles are packed with awesome features and boast of their diverse lineups that are downright irresistible. But which of them offers better value for your money? Let’s see how they measure up in terms of design, connectivity, safety, fuel consumption, and performance in this 2021 new Mazda 3 Perth and 2021 Toyota Corolla review.

When it comes to car purchases, fuel economy and performance often cover the bases while the design takes a back seat. But with the 2021 Toyota Corolla and 2021 Mazda3’s host of amazing interior features, design is something you cannot simply close your eyes to. Accompanying the Mazda3’s major performance upgrades are its outstanding exterior and premium interior design, including trim options with leather steering wheels and paddle shifters. However, that can only get you so far. Compared to the Toyota Corolla, the Mazda3 comes up short in terms of passenger and cargo space, comfort, and infotainment features. This car’s impressive features so perfectly complement its steady handling and sexier appearance, highlighted by its far more appealing large grille, tail lights, and new headlight design, as well as its large and neatly designed dashboard.

Whether you are planning to turn your sedan into an everyday workhorse or a family car that is great for long-distance adventures, connectivity is something you shouldn’t look right through. Well, both the Toyota Corolla and Mazda3 offer amazing connectivity options but with one of them, you cannot have all you want at the base level. For instance, the Corolla lets you enjoy a 3-month SiriusXM All Access subscription and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility when you buy it, regardless of the model you go for. With the Mazda3, however, you cannot have these features unless you upgrade to the Mazda3 2.5 S Sedan. The new Corolla also comes with a whole slew of connectivity features that the Mazda3 does not, including standard automatic climate control and wireless charging. Unless you can afford the Premium model, you may find the new Mazda3 a bit too insipid in terms of technology.

Fuel Efficiency

If Mazda’s claims are anything to go by, then the Mazda3’s official fuel economy figures are undeniably impressive for its segment. But then, real-world tests of this sedan cannot quite match Mazda’s remarkable claims. Compared to the 2021 Toyota Corolla which has a 30/38/33 MPG rating, Mazda3 only has a rating of 28/36/31 MPG rating. The Corolla has more to offer than just that, as its hybrid option boasts of its EPA-estimated 53/52/52 MPG rating! Unfortunately, the Mazda3 does not have a hybrid option and its more premium models require an even bigger sacrifice in terms of fuel economy with their average MPG rating of 25/33/28.

When it comes to safety, it’s a toss-up which of them wins. Both the 2021 Toyota Corolla and the 2021 Mazda3 come with advanced safety technology systems and have maximum five-star ANCAP safety ratings. The Mazda3’s airbag coverage both at the front and back, AEB, cross-traffic alerts, lane keeping assistance, and blind-spot monitoring are quite impressive, but the Toyota Corolla has its own safety features that are difficult to match, too. Unlike the Mazda3 whose advanced safety features are only present in its premium models, every Toyota Corolla comes equipped with active safety features covered by the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. These features include Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian DEtection, Automatic HIgh Beams, Lane Tracing ASsistant, Road Sign Assist, and Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. You will also love the new Corolla’s Hill Assist Control, which keeps you from rolling backward when climbing steep surfaces.

Overall, it is safe to say that both the 2021 Toyota Corolla and 2021 Mazda3 stand out in their own ways. However, the answer to which of them is better will heavily depend on what you are looking for in a sedan. Mazda3 looks good and drives well, but the Toyota Corolla delivers all that and more. Aside from the fact that it is more efficient and comes with more advanced safety features, it is also commendable how the new Corolla’s huge technological advancements aren’t just about making it look better on the surface, but more about allowing it to provide superior mobility solutions. The Toyota Corolla hybrid is also one for the books, allowing you to run smoothly and silently even at high speeds.
