Music adds rhythm to our lives. It is said that if one listens carefully, there is music in each and every part of nature. Sound of sea waves or sound of a raindrop falling on the rooftop or sound of birds, etc. everything has its own rhythm. Music is known as a universal stress buster. It holds power to lift the moods and the spirit.

Various researches and studies have been conducted to understand the effect of music on the human body, as well as, the brain. Studies have proved that music makes us feel happy.

The Science Behind Why Music Makes Us Feel So Good

Throughout our lifetime we listen to different songs and various memories and incidents get connected with these songs. When we listen to these songs, we immediately associate ourselves with them, and various memories from our past and emotions get evoked.

Music is also known to have a positive effect on brain development. People who take any kind of music lessons or play any instrument are said to have higher intelligence level and sharper memory than their peer group who are not involved in any kind of music-related activities.

People who love singing or playing an instrument will understand the role of music in bringing happiness in their own as well as other's life. A piece of good music can bring a smile or a tear of joy in the listener's eyes. Though music is not a necessity for a living, still it is an inseparable part of our lives. Listening to music, singing or playing an instrument is extremely pleasurable and rewarding. The scientific explanation behind this is, music increases the formation of dopamine chemical in the brain. Dopamine is the pleasure hormone of our body. It is also known to be associated with reward and motivation.

Different people like different music depending on their choice, preference, and taste. However, studies have also proved that some particular classical music pieces have a universal effect on everyone. They trigger the same emotions among all the listeners especially when they've been enjoying it simultaneously like during a music concert, opera or orchestral concert.

There is a reason we look for some emotional song when we are sad or a lullaby to make a baby sleep or some fast song when we are happy and want to show our dance moves. While listening to music we look for a song that matches with our ongoing emotions.

    Science has proved that music not only helps in uplifting our mood but also helps in our overall personality and quality of life. The only thing that matters is the intentions of the listener. To let the music show its effect, it is essential to feel the music and let it touch your soul. There is a huge difference between hearing and listening. Always try to listen to music and feel it's every beat.

Science has proved many times that music makes us feel happy by reducing stress and tensions. It calms our mind and our soul. There are several ways through which we can add music in our daily routine.

    The easiest way to involve yourself in music is to play the device and listen to the radio or any of your favorite song or albums. You can listen to music anytime, while doing your homework, cooking food, traveling, driving a car, etc.
  • Play an Instrument
    Another way of making music a part of your daily routine is to play an instrument. If you don't know how to play an instrument, then there is always an option of taking music lessons. So, just select an instrument of your choice and join the classes. Playing and learning instrument would not only make you feel happy but would also help in boosting your memory, intelligence, self-confidence, and self-esteem.
  • Learn to Read and Understand Music
    In order to feel the effect of music, you need to understand the music. In order to understand the music understand its lyrics, its melody, the song composition, and other song components. If you are a music lover, you might want to dig deeper and go for its history like reading biographies of the singers or bands. Etc. The more you learn about music, the more you get involved in it.

Making music a part of our daily life would give us a reason to smile every day.
