The following article is extracted from
the book "Wisdom on Life and Death"
by Dr. Tommy S. W. Wong

Tom: Guru Harry, what is the accumulation phase of life?
Guru: After they get an education, they get a job.

Tom: Then, they get a car.
Guru: Then, they get a spouse.

Tom: Then, they get a house.
Guru: Then, they get a child.

Tom: Then, they get a bigger job.
Guru: Then, they get a bigger car.

Tom: Then, they get a bigger house.
Guru: Then, they get another child.

Tom: Then, they get even a bigger job.
Guru: Then, they get even a bigger car.

Tom: Then, they get even a bigger house.
Guru: Then, they get another child.

Tom: And the cycle repeats itself?
Guru: Well, if they want to continue to accumulate.

Tom: More is better, right?
Guru: Some people think so.

Tom: So, they never stop.
Guru: As long as they are accumulating, they are in the accumulation phase.

Tom: When will they stop?
Guru: Usually when they get a disease.

Tom: You mean a dreadful disease?
Guru: Then, they’ll get the hell out of here.

Tom: You mean they die?
Guru: Amen.

Tom: What happens after the accumulation phase?
Guru: Then, there is the deaccumulation phase.

Tom: What is the deaccumulation phase? Guru: The deaccumulation phase usually starts with losing their parents.

Tom: You mean as their parents pass on?
Guru: Then, they may voluntarily or involuntarily lose their jobs.

Tom: You mean as they enter retirement?
Guru: Then, they lose their children.

Tom: You mean as their children leave home and pursue their independent lives?
Guru: Then, they may lose their house.

Tom: You mean as they move to a smaller house?
Guru: Then, they may lose their car.

Tom: You mean as they lose the ability to drive or can’t afford to keep the car?
Guru: Then finally, they lose everything that they have including the body.

Tom: You mean they part with everything that they have upon their death?
Guru: This is what they mean by till death do us part.

Tom: Amen.
Guru: Yes Tom, and this is the deaccumulation phase of life.
