Awakening the Self
By Lyssa Royal
Put yourself into a comfortable position, eyes open or closed. Breathe deeply. Listen to the silence around you. Stretch your perceptual abilities and listen to the sounds that you normally filter from your awareness.
Listen to the clock ticking, the birds singing, or the hum of electrical appliances. Pay direct attention to these sounds and acknowledge their reality. If you smell something, pay attention to it. If you see anything with your inner vision such as colors or pictures, pay attention to those perceptions. If you feel anything on your skin, pay attention to it. Stretch your perceptive abilities and peer into realms that you usually ignore.
Take at least fifteen minutes to complete this exercise. If you practice this exercise frequently, you will begin to expand your perceptions beyond your previous capabilities. A new world will open for you, inside your consciousness. You go within and expand yourself outward in order to perceive a new dimension of the universe that you normally filter from conscious awareness. You will begin having more profound dreams. You will have more insight, more psychic ability and precognition. You will be able to sense energy fields in a different way than in the past and you will be able to understand your inner world in a whole new way. With your loved ones you will have a deeper empathic connection.
What you reflect is what you receive
Imagine that you are walking across a room that represents your current reality. You see a door and open it. You then walk into another room that represents a new and higher reality. There are unfamiliar things on the walls, but it is an interesting place. You might feel differently about yourself here because the décor is more harmonious and more enriching to the soul. However, as you spend more time in this room you begin to realize that the walls are covered with mirrors. What you reflect is what you receive; if you let your inner beauty shine and express yourself through truth, honesty and unconditional love, then the room will be a pleasant place. If you have not processed your emotions but instead continue to express yourself through fear, manipulation, secrecy and control, then you will begin to see an unbearable ugliness that will force a retreat back into the previous room where you can hide from your reflections more effectively.
One clear way to know how much time you are spending in the higher reality is by evaluating how much time you spend in fear, judgment and separation. But as you advance, you begin reacting differently to old stimuli. No longer will you become upset at things that used to upset you, for example. You can tell how you have shifted by how you react to the reality around you.
Humans are like beautiful butterflies whose heads are barely sticking out of their cocoons. As the planet moves further into higher consciousness, each butterfly might feel somewhat confused because it is in a new body. It will suddenly see a new world!
The new reality must now embrace conscious living. It contains joy and tears and togetherness. However, you can never truly be together until you become whole as individuals.
Don't forget to stretch your wings. When you do, you will discover that you really can fly!
