Over the past few months, as part of the process of putting together a new program, we've tried lots of different methods to generate feelings of Love and joy. There are probably an infinite number of ways to generate a feeling of Love. When we were interviewing Love experts from around the world, we asked them how to generate a feeling of Love. They shared a lot of great exercises and practices that we can do to get that feeling.
However, the general consensus of the Love experts was that instead of actually generating those feelings of Love, what we are really doing is just finding those feelings of Love which already exist within us, as an inseparable part of who we are.
Allan Silberhartz, host of the Bridging Heaven and Earth show, says that we just have to recognize the truth of what we are, unwind the illusions, and clear the "crap on top." He recommends meditating in order to go within and get in touch with unconditional Love. He also says we can find these feelings by going out in nature, spending time with loved ones and meeting people who are interested in spiritual growth.
Nick Good, founder of Success Ultra Now, says we don't actually have to generate anything - all we have to do is surrender who we are not. He also recommends meditation as a way to surrender the thoughts and habits we've picked up that aren't in harmony with our true, loving selves.
Love Infused Meditations
I'm actually pretty new to meditation. I've only been practicing it for a year and a half or so. So I'm not an expert, but I can tell you a couple of easy methods I use to meditate...
First, you just sit down. It can be on a chair, in bed, or however you like. You can even lie down, but try not to fall asleep. Then, just close your eyes and focus on your breathing.
Technique #1: Stilling the mind
With this technique, the aim is basically to "get out of your head." Any time a thought comes into your mind, just watch it go by like scenery as you drive your car. This is much harder than it sounds! Basically any time I find myself thinking, I move my focus onto my breath, and simply focus on each breath. (Love tip: Saying the statements "I Love You, I'm Sorry, Please Forgive Me, Thank You" silently in your mind has been VERY effective.)
By practicing this technique consistently, you'll be able to move beyond your thinking mind and get in touch with God, your Higher Self, Divine Intelligence, "Super-Conscious" or whatever you want to call accessing this higher level energy. Some people say they hear an inner voice telling them something. For me, I've never heard a voice, but a lot of times I suddenly get a great idea which I know is coming from a higher intelligence.
Technique #2: Guided meditations
I love guided meditations, because they allow you to just sit and listen. You don't have to do anything other than follow the instructions of the speaker. They are very relaxing to listen to.
