How to Choose the Perfect Vanity Mirror

Vanity Mirror

The vanity mirror was developed sometime in the seventeenth or eighteenth century. It was an additional feature added to a form of luxury furniture called a dressing table.

Dressing tables and vanities were popular among the upper classes for a few centuries before they peaked in the 1930s and 1940s. Vanity mirrors are still popular, but they've changed venues. You can usually find them over the bathroom sink.

Just because they're usually in the bathroom doesn't mean they have to be. There are vanity mirrors for everywhere and every style. We'll discuss how to find the right vanity for you in this article.

Choose the Size

The most important decision to make when choosing a vanity mirror is the size. How big of a mirror do you want? Are you the type whose motto is 'the bigger, the better' or do you find that smaller mirrors are more convenient?

While your personal choice is important, you should also consult with spouses, roommates, or anyone else who has an equal share in the home. There's also the question of practicality. A larger mirror will be harder to install and will look out of place in a small bathroom, and the same goes for small mirrors in large bathrooms.

Ultimately, the only requirement is that it's big enough to see yourself in, because, let's face it, that's what mirrors are for.

Choose the Number

One of the great things about bathroom vanity mirrors is that you're allowed to get creative with them. Perhaps you don't want to do one central mirror and would prefer to have two. You can do that.

In theory, you can have as many bathroom mirrors as you want, but most contractors will recommend that you only have as many mirrors as you have sinks to put them over.

The Shape of Mirrors

You have nearly limitless options when selecting the shape of your vanity mirror. This isn't just a phrase, either, because you can order custom mirrors if you wish. We can even recommend an excellent place for custom mirror framing.

Frames are another aspect of choosing a mirror because not all mirrors have them. Just ask yourself: do you want your window to have bits of wood or stone around the edges? If so, choose something with a border

If you don't want to order a custom mirror, you can still find a wide selection of premade mirrors that will fit your decoration style. Most vanity mirrors are either round or rectangular
