Cannabis Concentrates

Cannabis use has become very popular due to it slowly becoming socially acceptable globally. It is now the norm for some countries, especially Canada. It is even legal to use in some locations as well. The world of cannabis concentrates can be kind of confusing. Perhaps even unfamiliar for new people. There is a bit of terminology that new users may not know. Such as weed concentrates. What are they and how do you make them?

Ways to Extract Cannabis

There are a lot of ways to extract cannabis. The two methods typically used are solvent and solventless. These extractions are called weed or cannabis concentrates. Weed concentrates are excess material left over after the plant has gone through the process of taking away the extra plant material. What is leftover are cannabinoids and terpenes also known as terpenoids. They produce the desired effects, smell, and flavors someone may experience while using a cannabis product. This makes the cannabinoids and terpenes into a smaller, sometimes a gooey yellowish substance. It can look like honey in some cases.

CBD and THC

The most common cannabinoid is CBD and THC. CBD or cannabidiol is the non “high” component of the plant whereas THC or tetrahydrocannabinol is. CBD is mostly used for wellness products due to its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. However, THC is used mostly for its euphoric experience. Terpenes are the organic compound of the plant. This gives the plant the smelly components from the flower.

They can be found all over the cannabis plant. These components can also be found in other plants. In cannabis plants, there are over 200 terpenes that make normal smells like berry, citrus, mint, and pine. The levels of these concentrates can vary between product and form. A lot of it depends on how it was first extracted.

All of these concentrates can be consumed in many different ways. Depending on what form you use, the cannabis concentrates can be used in any way you like. Including adding them to your join you smoke or in the edibles you eat. It depends on your preferences. Dabbing is the most common consumption method related to concentrated cannabis. This explains why most of the time you will hear concentrates called dabs. However, these products can also be experienced in other ways. Such as, vape pens, edibles. Some of the other different forms are shatter, hash, and oils. The flower can be made into many other things. Such as oils, concentrates or extracts. These all come from the flower in a concentrated product.
