3 Smart Ways to Get Wine in a Pinch
Sometimes, the liquor store near me just doesn’t cut it in terms of wine options. Or, what’s even worse, the liquor store me doesn’t even stock the type of wine or alcohol that I would even want. So there are a few things I would try if any liquor store near me just wasn’t meeting my needs.
Additionally, sometimes I’ll just need some kind of alcohol really quickly and I’m in a bit of a pinch. That means that I’ll either be strapped for time, or I’ll have to spend a fortune in order to get the kind of wine that I want for parties, gatherings, or just a night in by myself.
So, what should you do if the “liquor store near me” just doesn’t cut it? A lot of the time, I just want something more convenient and realistic than the liquor store near me, but is something like that even possible?
If you’re in a pinch, sometimes you just need to be able to get your alcohol fast. Keep on reading to find out some great ways to get wine, or most other kinds of alcohol, quickly.
Order Your Wine Online
Did you know that it’s possible to order your wine online and actually get it fairly quickly? Instead of having to ship your wine to your door and waiting until the next day (or even until the next week or month, depending on where the wine business you order from is actually located), there are some services that would allow you to get wine delivered to you.
If you have a particularly busy day ahead of you, you just might not have enough time to pick up wine at the “liquor store near me” or anywhere else, for that matter. So in the same way that you can get your groceries delivered to you from an assortment of local grocery stores, it’s also possible for you to get your wine delivered to your door.
Many people wouldn’t even take this as a potential option, mostly because there’s an age gate around who can legally obtain alcoholic beverages in stores. However, wine delivery websites and applications have revolutionized themselves to include the ability to check for a person’s legal ID before a purchase is completed.
This makes it much easier for people on the go, both on the business’ side and on the customer’s side. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be able to get your wine delivered to your home if you aren’t there to sign for it, but it does mean that someone can do the wine shopping for you when you don’t have the time available to do so yourself.
Go to the Convenience Store
While this isn’t necessarily going to be everyone’s favorite option, the convenience store is made for ultimate convenience. While convenience stores are going to be somewhat limited in options, they just might be the fastest option if you need to get your alcohol fix immediately.
If you’re that strapped for time, however, that might also mean that you’ll have to be satisfied with spending a little bit more than you normally would in order to get the wine you want (or even the kind of wine you don’t want). That’s one of the big issues with convenience stores.
While convenience stores are great options for when you’re in a rush and you don’t want to have to travel very far to get your needs met, you will also need to pay for the convenience that you’re getting.
This is largely because convenience stores will upcharge you on most items, making you pay more at that particular location. And they do this because they know that they can charge a little more, not because they necessarily have more costs to cover than other kinds of stores.
Convenience stores know you’re there because you’re tight on time or you don’t have any other options. They charge you more because you don’t have a choice and they know that they can.
Therefore, if you’re looking to get your alcohol fast but you don’t want to spend much money, I wouldn’t necessarily check out your nearest convenience store unless you absolutely have to.
Head to the Grocery Store
While not all grocery stores will have the options that you’d normally see at a specialty wine shop, it may be worth it to grab something while you’re already there. Instead of needing to take a separate trip or go to a second location, there are grocery stores that offer a variety of alcohol options to their shoppers.
Again, it might not be your favorite bottle of wine, but the grocery store is more likely to have more reasonable prices than many convenience store. Additionally, they might even have a bit more of a selection if you want to be a bit more choosy with your booze.
