Do Resistance Band Workouts Really Work?

Resistance Band Workout

Resistance-band exercises have been all over the place and many people swear that this is the workout that is going to help them get ahead. These workouts are going to use an elastic band that you can use to create more tension for a workout on the arms and legs, engaging more muscles and helping you build up your strength.

While we know that strength training can be important, it is sometimes hard to make it to the gym and you may not have the room to get a bunch of weights. This may make you feel interested in doing a resistance band workout to see if it is the right choice for you. But does it really work?

The Benefits of a Resistance Band Workout

There are a number of benefits you will be able to enjoy when you add resistance bands to the workout. Many people love these workouts because a simple band is able to help them get more out of their workout overall. Some of the benefits that you can get when using resistance bands include:

  • They fit into a small area. You don’t have to worry about finding space in your home to keep all of those weights. You can use a simple band to help you work those muscles and keep them from getting weak along the way.
  • Can work with cardio: There are many resistance training workouts that allow you to pull out the bands and use it along with the cardio workout of your choice. You will be able to get more out of your workout, all in a safe and effective manner.
  • Easy to learn: It is really easy to add resistance training to almost any workout that you would like to do. Even if you do not have a lot of space or you have not been able to do a good workout for some time, the resistance bands can make it easy to build up muscle.
  • Effective: While you can definitely get heavier free weights and work up to more muscle mass over time, as a beginner it can be just as effective as the free weights. For such a simple tool, it is nice to know that you will get an effective workout when using resistance bands

For many people, resistance bands are going to be the answer they need to making their workout more effective and helping them see amazing results. No matter your fitness levels, the resistance bands can make life easier.

The Negatives of a Resistance Band Workout

While there are a lot of benefits that can come from using resistance bands, they are not going to work for everything. The first issue is that you will not get the same kinds of gains as you can with using weights.

With free weights, you can keep adding more weight, giving yourself more resistance. Sure, the bands can be tightened and there are several types to help with this, but there are limits, while free weights do not have the same kinds of limits. Once you get to a certain point with the band, the results will stall because you don’t get the same amount of resistance.

For those who are looking to really improve their gains and get the muscle strength to go like crazy, the resistance bands may not be the best option to choose. But if you would like to get the muscles started and want a simple and effective way to do it, the resistance bands will do the trick here.

Is It Effective?

Resistance band workouts can be very effective for helping you to gain muscles and get in a good workout. The extra tension that they add to the workout can make them feel great as well. And a simple band is all you need, which is much easier to store and keep in your apartment or home compared to a lot of free weights.

While these resistance bands may not do much if you are a big weight trainer and do heavy weights, The amount of resistance will not be the same as you are used to when you do the free weights.

However, there are certain situations when a resistance band workout can be effective. For example, if you have never done much of a workout routine or you haven’t done much with strength training, these bands can be a good option to use. They allow you to work those muscles hard, in a non-threatening manner.

Many individuals like to combine strength training and cardio. Doing this with heavy weights can be very dangerous to complete. Adding in the resistance band can be a good option to still work out the muscles. But since you use an elastic band rather than heavy weights, it is much safer to work with.

The resistance bands can also save a lot of space in your home. When you use free weights, it will require quite a few of them, especially when you make the muscles stronger. Even if you choose to go with a few bands, they are smaller and can easily fit into a closet to save you room and pull out when you need them the most.

For those who are beginners and want a safe way to work on the muscles from the comfort of their own home, these resistance bands are going to be a great workout and you can definitely feel them when you are done. However, keep in mind that they will not be as effective as using really heavy free weights.

Choosing to Do Resistance Band Workouts

There are many great workouts out there that you can try to build up strength and feel amazing. Choosing the right one will make all the difference. Adding some resistance band workouts to the routine, especially if you only have a few minutes or can’t make it to the gym can really help to tone the muscles and make you feel amazing.
