Depression is a disorder or an illness of which affects your mental health. It does not only disturb your mental health but also affects how you feel and your daily life activity.

It causes feelings of loneliness and you start to lose interest in everything that is happening around.

Signs and symptoms of depression: 

The signs and symptoms of depression range from mild to moderate to severe because they vary in different individuals. Some of the most common signs and symptoms of depression are:

  1. You start to feel sad on a daily basis and you feel stressed and depressed all the time. It does not go away until you take proper treatment.
  2. You start to lose interest in everything you loved to do, you feel like you are tired of everything that you begin to do.
  3. One other symptom that is common in everybody is their appetite. The person who is going through depression starts to either lose all the diet or they start to gain weight because they have been eating too much.
  4. The people who are in depression either have insomnia i.e. not being able to sleep or start to have hypersomnia i.e. they feel sleepy all the time.
  5. You start to feel tired all the time. You feel that you are overworked even after doing minor things. You start feeling like you do not have any energy left in your body.
  6. You will start to feel like you are more interested in doing the purposeless stuff and you start to face problems in general tasks like talking, etc.
  7. Depression makes you hate yourself and the people around you, it does not matter if they are your family members or your friends.

There are a few ways through which you can prevent depression. Some of them we will discuss below to understand:

  1. Start to find different ways by which you can handle your stress and start working on your self-esteem.
  2. Start taking care of everything you do and yourself. Start to manage your sleep cycle and along with it start exercising on a daily basis.
  3. When you feel like everything is being hard on you start talking to the people you are close to.
  4. If you feel unwell or constantly sad then start to seek medical attention as soon as possible.
  5. Get immediate help if you feel like you are depressed. Do not ever sit back and wait because it can make your depression get worse in so many ways.
  6. If you are drinking alcohol or any other drugs stop taking them immediately because they will boost your depression.
  7. Start to spend more time with the people you love because after talking to people you love you will just start feeling better in so many ways.
