In the world full of stress and hectic schedules, people tend to lose their patience, composure, and self-control over their body and mind. Such a result of stress and mental illness, people are trapped by various diseases which can ruin their life to extend. Multiple studies prove that by doing yoga and meditation, people can self control their body and even brain centers.

Basically, Yoga is a combination of mental, physical, and spiritual practices. The primary motive of yoga is to develop spiritual peace, to train the body as well as mind so that the person can self observe and become self-aware of its nature.

Meditation is a fragment of Yoga. In a sharp sense, meditation is a state of peace where the mind can gain calmness and sereneness. There are broad varieties of ways in which medications can are practised.

Yoga and meditation bring a sense of cognisance which helps us to form an inner experience. It cultivates self-conscious, and self-control attributes in mind. Yoga is a combination of meditation, stretching exercise (asana), relaxation techniques and much more which helps to make yourself aware of your own body and nature.

Researchers believe that Yoga improves the balance between both mind and body, helps to increase flexibility, enhance strength, energy level, keeps weight in control, and even helps to keep you calm.

People who do yoga as a significant part of their life, are 20% more likely to have a positive resemblance of their own physical and mental health and develops a stronger mental clarity, flexibility, and strength.

Therefore, accordant to the result from the 2012 National Health Interview Survey, yoga had motivated nearly two-thirds of the people to exercise more and 40% of the people to eat healthier.

Yoga provides Self-actualization, a sense of kindness, self-awareness, and continues growth with improved flexibility, a balance between both mind and body and reduces the risk of heart diseases.

Yoga helps to open up the probability of connecting to what we already have – to what we already are. It brings us face to face with our inner self to make us understand the real us.

Even doing meditation helps us to reduce stress level and anxiety, because when we meditate our mind and nervous system undergoes a radical change, which reduces and prevents further development of such conditions. The moment we come out of the core of stress we feel a sense of calmness, confident and connected to ourselves.

As it is well said that yoga and meditation go hand in hand and have various benefits to the enhancement of our life. There are many scientifically and experienced uphold benefits of both yoga and meditation which helps in growing our wellness and the way we breathe.

Benefits of yoga:

  1. Improves the respiratory system:
    Today in the world of yoga, most practices involve eight-limbed philosophy, and one limb is completely dedicated towards breathing. Pranayama exercise includes belly breathing, stop action breathing and nostril breathing; and all such exercises are invented to make one aware of the breath and maintain control over lungs.

    While doing yoga all the poses and postures are accompanied by the inhale and exhale activity. The yoga asanas move your spine in all directions and the stretch, strengthen the muscles all around your upper trunk; This will support your respiratory system by making the respiratory muscles strong and flexible.

    Even some studies have illustrated that yoga exercise (pranayama) is functional in improving the lung condition in those people who suffer chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

  2. Better digestion:
    Having a great immune system is a must thing for every person. If you have any trouble in digestion or can’t get things moving simple, then practising yoga can provide you with splendid help. Yoga deals with various postures and moves that massages the internal system, which further helps food to move in your digestive system.
  3. Relieves from Migraine:
    Yoga also helps in relieving people from unbearable migraine pain. Yoga practice is recommended to fight with this unendurable pain. One of the suggested position that soothes migraine pain is the “bridge pose”.

    In Bridge pose, you need to lie on your back with bent knees, flat feet with apart. Heels should be directly below the knees and leave your upper arms on the floor with bend elbows and fingers towards the ceiling. This pose relaxes the tension in your muscles of neck and shoulders.

  4. Better Sleep:
    To live a healthy and fruitful life, one need to sleep well to work for the next scheduled day. If you have a problem with sleeping or is suffering from insomnia then surely Yoga is a way to cure yourself.

    By doing yoga twice a week, one can reduce stress, anxiety, and tension. Even meditation and breathing techniques help to relax the mind which slower your unnecessary thought processing and enable to provide a peaceful sleep.

  5. Heart disease:
    Maintain a healthy heart is the basis of a healthy lifestyle. Various studies have depicted that both yoga and meditation help to reduce heart problems. It helps to lower heart rate and improve blood circulation.

When yoga and meditation reduce stress hormones, blood pressure and provides calmness in your both mind and body, then it results in a better flow of blood which prevents from heart diseases.

Benefits of meditation:

  1. Grows brain:
    Meditation helps to increase the volume and thickness of the mind. It makes you smarter, increases your attention, self-awareness and self-control. It even helps to increase the blood flow to your brain which enables better functions.
  2. Slows the aging process:
    Recent studies have depicted that doing meditation changes your body on a cellular level that helps to slow down the aging process. Medical studies have shown that people who do meditation regularly produce an increased amount of Melatonin in their bodies. Melatonin is an effective hormone which slows down aging and improves the immune system.
  3. Better concentration:
    Meditation is well known to increase the level of great matter concentration in the brain. Such a type of concentration helps to increase learning ability, sharpens memory and sense of self-awareness.
  4. Increase positive emotions:
    In day to day, busy schedule people tend to be more stressful and hypertension. While doing meditation people reduces stress, and as a result, we get more connected to ourselves, feel calm, confident and motivated in meeting the challenges of life.
  5. Emotional stability:
    While doing meditation people feel connected to both mind and body. As meditation improves the mental focus and overall improves emotional stability through deep relaxation.

Meditation helps you to look towards the positive and constructive side of your life leaving behind all the fears, anxiety, and critical thinking.


In nutshell, yoga and meditation have overall improved the wellbeing and lifestyle of the people by improving the health problems, breaking problems and difficulty in handling with mods swings.
