Eight Ways to Overcome Pain
While Remaining Active

If you want to relieve your intermittent or chronic pain, then you must find methods that don't make you mentally incoherent or physically disorientated. Fortunately, there are ways for physically active people to overcome their discomfort without feeling groggy or unbalanced. Use these methods that are recommended by experts.

Pain Relief Method 1: Wearing a Supportive Brace

When you have a knee, back or shoulder injury, it can cause excruciating pain, but if you take muscle relaxants or pain medication, then you shouldn't drive a vehicle. However, you can wear a supportive elastic or metal brace that is ready-made at local drugstores or that is customized by a physician.

Pain Relief Method 2: Applications of Heat

Applications of heat can relieve your pain for a few hours. You can find topical ointments that warm the muscles and tendons of your body to relieve your discomfort, or you might want to use an electric heating pad instead. Hot showers or baths can also help you to feel better without reducing your physical activity.

Pain Relief Method 3: Herbal Teas

A soothing cup of herbal tea can help you to feel better. You can find herbal teas at online and local stores, but there are certain varieties that are recommended for relieving your pain, including:

  • Valerian – great for muscle and tendon spasms
  • St. John's Wort – appropriate for arthritic or nerve pain
  • Kava Kava – used for nerve pain and headaches
  • Ginseng – appropriate for muscular discomfort
  • Chamomile – relaxes the body slightly
  • Ginger – reduces gastrointestinal discomfort
  • Clove – relieves toothache or facial pain

You can drink several cups of herbal tea each day without worrying about feeling too tired to perform your job.

Pain Relief Method 4: Ice Therapy for Pain

When you want to relieve the pain in your joints, you can apply an ice pack on a joint or a limb. There are a variety of plastic ice pack products available that you can keep in a freezer to have the items ready anytime that you are feeling discomfort. Use an ice pack for several minutes to reduce your pain before placing the ice pack back into the freezer.

Pain Relief Method 5: Application of Essential Oils

You can mix essential oils with lotions or creams to apply to your body for pain relief. Experts recommend these natural scents for the best relief from discomfort:

  • Frankincense
  • Thyme
  • Rosemary
  • Turmeric
  • Juniper
  • Lavender
  • Peppermint

Make sure to use only a small amount of essential oil in your emollient product because the liquids are highly concentrated.

Pain Relief 6: Meditation to Relieve Your Pain

With meditation, you can often relieve your pain for a few hours. You can sit in a quiet corner of a room on a comfortable chair while focusing your mind along with controlling your breathing to relax. When you are more relaxed, you will have less discomfort, and you can return to your regular activities afterward.

Pain Relief Method 7: Gentle Exercise

While resting for a few days after an injury is acceptable, if you don't start moving again, then your body's muscles and tendons become stiffer. In addition, your joints won't receive enough lubrication to keep the cartilage from becoming dry and cracked. It is a good idea to walk around inside your home along with performing gentle stretching movements so that you can reduce your pain.

Pain Relief Method 8: Modern Treatments

Contact a physician or medical facility to learn if you are a candidate for modern stem cell therapy for pain. This treatment is used for repairing the tears in muscles, cartilage and tendons to relieve the pain from injuries or arthritis. You will need several treatments over a period of six weeks, and the discomfort in your body will reduce gradually over several months.
