Diets That Promote Mental Performance

There are a lot of diets out there. When you are searching for the best match for you, the choices can get overwhelming. Here are 4 diet options that have been linked to mental clarity as well as the promotion of overall fitness goals.

Low Carb Diet

There are multiple diets that fall under the umbrella of low carb diet. Adkins, Paleo, Slow Carb, and Whole 30 are just a few examples. The jist of all of these diets is that you don't eat any sort of processed carbohydrates. Some versions of the diet allow for certain carbohydrates such as beans or potatoes. Some of them offer a cheat day to increase calorie consumption for 1 day a week. All of these diets have been linked to better mental performance and increased weight loss. Those who follow the diet generally stress high protein foods such as chicken, fish, turkey, fresh vegetables, and eggs. Most diets greatly restrict dairy consumption, and nearly all of them eliminate sugar. This is a good answer for you if you are looking for a diet that never lets you feel hungry.

Vegan Diet

Don't knock it until you try it! A vegan diet has been promoted by many scientists and healthcare providers. The diet boasts a lowered risk of diseases such as heart disease, liver disease, and certain cancers. It can also help with digestion, bowel problems, and reproductive issues. For those who do not know, vegan-ism is a diet without any sort of animal product at all. This means no meat, no cheese, and no sneaky animal additives or preservatives. Those that have the most success with a vegan diet tend to lean towards fresh foods such as product, beans, and whole grains. Not only has the diet been linked with mental clarity and lowered risk of disease, but it has also been linked to increase mental performance. This could give you better success in work and career life!

Whole Foods

This is one of the healthiest overall things you can do with your diet. On a diet of entirely whole foods, people have reported better mental clarity, better skin and hair, and increased overall health. The easiest way to explain a whole food diet is to say that it cuts out all processed foods. This means all foods that are not purchased as the same product that they grow as in nature. For instance, corn is a whole food. You can grow corn. Corn bread is not a whole food. Corn bread does not grow in nature. On this diet, a majority of your food will be purchased from the outer walls of the grocery store. Produce, meat, and dairy can be cooked and consumed. Frozen vegetables are fine, but you will want to stay clear of most frozen ready meals. Canned beans are vegetables are fine as well as oats and rice. These are preserved with few to no additives. Ideally, you will eat more fresh and natural foods.

Gluten Free

While the elimination of Gluten has not been proven to have any health benefits long-term, many people who practice the diet report feeling more overall energy as well as better digestion. This can lead to better mental clarity. There are various Gluten free options in grocery stores now. In general, Gluten free generally means no form of wheat can be consumed. However, almost any sort of baked good can be made Gluten free by using rice, oat, or almond flour. This is an extremely easy diet to accommodate at home, but it can be somewhat inconvenient for people who like to eat out a lot.

Having a diet that can increase your mental clarity can enhance many areas of your life. All of these diets are valid options for increasing mental clarity! Try them out and choose the one that works the best for you!
