The Shih-Tzu is perfect for a family home and will love sitting on a parent or kids lap. Although the breed does have a spunky stubborn side, it can still adapt well to proper training. One of the drawbacks to the Shih-Tzu is that he isn't too good of a watchdog, and can be too trusting even of strangers. Another drawback is that this breed of dog tends to have long thick hair, which requires regular grooming including bathing three times a week.

The dog has an adventurous spirit and has been known to be used as a hunting dog due to their love for the outdoors. The dog also gets along quite easily with other dogs, making it the perfect addition to a home with more than one pet. The main drawback for the beagle is that they do shed their coat a whole lot which means they require constant brushing and bathing.
