4 Ways to Clear Your Mind Through
Healthier Cooking

Cooking is something that every single person in their life will do. Some people will cook more often than others but for most of the world’s population we cook more often than we don’t. Because most people cook for themselves, it is up to them to make sure they are eating healthy and in a way that positively affects their minds. Cooking in a healthy way can be a great challenge because for some, just cooking a meal that tastes decent is a huge success. If you can cook a delicious meal and have it be healthy, that is just icing on the cake. Fortunately, there are several easy ways to cook healthier while still having a delicious meal.

1. Skip the Salt
It is routine for almost everyone to add salt into the food they are cooking or to add salt to your own dish once it has been served. We love salt and it is because it is able to give a dull tasting dish enough flavor for it to be decent. The tricky thing about salt however is that if you consume too much salt it can be bad for your health because of the sodium. One way to still have flavor without taking in the sodium is to use natural herbs and spices. You can use oregano, thyme, dill, and many other spices and herbs in order to give your food the flavor it needs to be delicious.

2. Don’t Forget Fruits and Vegetables
Cooking can be difficult and often takes a lot of focus and time. If you are new to cooking, chances are that when you cook a meal you are so focused on the main dish that you forget about sides. This is okay if you have a well-rounded dish but it can be an issue if your main dish is a classic meatloaf but now you do not have a salad or any other type of food to go with the giant chunk of meat now on your plate. A side of fruit or a simple salad is not hard to put together, it just takes some planning and thought ahead of time but it can make your meal much more healthy.

3. Avoid Oil and Butter
All around the world a common way to cook food is in oil or butter. It is sad because the oil and butter make the food delicious and can give crispy textures that are often hard to replicate in an oven or on the stove without oil or butter. Fortunately in the last decade there have been new technologies emerging and if you look at air fryer reviews you will see that you can cook French fries in an air fryer with little to no oil and still achieve the crispy texture that normally you can only achieve through dipping the potatoes in a vat of boiling oil.

4. Substitute Cream
In dishes like soups and pastas having it be nice and creamy is a must. The only problem with making a creamy dish is that the cream itself is not very healthy for you. Fortunately, there is a way to replace the cream so that you can be a bit healthier. The easiest way to still get the creamy texture without actually using the fatty cream is to add in flour to some skim or low-fat milk. By adding the flour, it will thicken up your sauce or soup just like cream would and you don’t have to worry about the unhealthy consequences of the cream.

If you can start to eat more healthily you will definitely feel a difference in your mental health. You will be able to think more clearly and overall you will just feel better. If you have never given it a try, then simply follow these tips and try it out.
