1. Wear Sunscreen
For those of you who love to go swimming or simply enjoy being in the sun during the summer, you will need to apply sunscreen generously and constantly. Sunscreen will protect your skin from harmful UV rays that could cause burns that range from mild to severe and from skin cancer as well. Apply your sunscreen before going outside and reapply during the times stated on the bottle or whenever you begin to get too wet.
2. Drink Plenty of Water
Although this is something that you should be doing during every season, it is especially easy for someone to become dehydrated during the summer. Symptoms of dehydration include being extremely dizzy, being tired, having a dry mouth, not urinating, and having a headache. In order to avoid dehydration, try to drink at least a couple of glasses of water each hour that you are in the sun. You can also drink flavored water or teas to prevent dehydration if you do not like the taste of water.
3. Wear Sunglasses
UV rays are not only harmful to your skin but to your eyes as well. If you want to protect your eyes from problems such as cataracts or wrinkles, purchase a pair of sunglasses that keep out 99 percent of UV-A and B rays or more. 4. Stay Active
It may get hot during the summertime but it is still important that you continue to exercise throughout the season. If you can, engage in outdoor activities such as hiking, jogging, biking, or swimming. If the weather is too hot and you can't exercise comfortably outside, choose an inside activity instead. You could do some yoga, use a home workout DVD, or come up with an activity on your own. Whatever you choose to do, it's important that you stay active.
