Magic Bullet or NutriBullet:
Which is the Better Blender?

We’ve all seen the infomercials and we all know what these machines appear to be capable of. There’s always a darker side to these claims however. Limited warranties, less powerful motors underperforming, gasket ring issues - the list goes on...

In this article we are going to dive deep into what makes the two most popular blenders on the market tick. We’ll show you what you need to be wary of, where one excels over the other to help guide you in making the right decision.

Motor

The most important difference between the two is in the specifications of their motors. The Magic Bullet features a 250-watt motor while the NutriBullet has a 600-watt motor. This enormous disparity in power dictates their specific abilities. The Magic Bullet can handle most tasks well enough including the creation of soups, sauces, and fruit smoothies. Those who are trying to be healthier or become better cooks will surely have use for it.

However, the Magic Bullet can struggle with items like hard vegetables, frozen ingredients, coffee beans, mixed nuts, and various spices. The results tend to be less than satisfactory. The NutriBullet, on the other hand, can blend these with ease. You can crush ice, make nut butters, and prepare your own almond milk from scratch instead of buying from the store. After all, you can them fresh with absolutely no preservatives.

Blades

The Magic Bullet comes with a stainless-steel cross-blade. This is similar to what you would find in most blenders. The ends are angled upward with sharp edges to cut through soft fruits and similar items. They provide smooth juices and sauces in just a few seconds. On the other hand, the NutriBullet has two: the extractor blade and the milling blade. This combination is more powerful as they can process even the toughest ingredients with ease. Note that blades get dull after a while so get replacements when you see a noticeable decline in performance.

Capacity

You can use the Magic Bullet or NutriBullet to prepare healthy drinks and snacks. However, it might take you more time with the former since it has a smaller capacity. You will only get a 250 ml short cup and a 500 ml tall cup. If you love your smoothies, then these can quickly feel a little too small.

Meanwhile, the latter includes larger capacity cups with 500 ml and 750 ml. These are better for people who want to do the prep work once and consume their drinks throughout the day. These all cups come with resealable lids to keep their contents fresh. Both models work great as personal blenders as you can whip up your favourite recipes in a snap. Just make sure that plan ahead if you are going to serve two or more people.

Recipe Book

The Magic Bullet was made with beginners in mind. As such, it comes with everything you would need to make delicious and healthy juices in your own kitchen. This includes a recipe book with each item being simple enough for 10 seconds of preparation. Just gather 2-5 ingredients, throw them in the machine, and turn it on -- great for people on the go.

With the NutriBullet, the larger motor opens up more possibilities so the recipe book is also more diverse. You can be as simple or as fancy as you want. You will develop a more sophisticated palate. You can still do basic blends but try to expand your personal menu and you might be pleasantly surprised. You can also follow the recipes on blogs you find online. There is even an additional pocket nutritionist guide to help you learn more about healthy eating.

Price

When deciding between the popular blenders, the choice usually comes down to the price. The Magic Bullet has a list price of $49.99 but you can find it with a steep discount in various stores. The NutriBullet is a bit more expensive at $59.99 which is to be expected given its better overall features and capabilities. If you are just looking for a basic blender for personal use at a low price, then you can't go wrong with the Magic Bullet. If you plan on experimenting with lots of ingredients, then go for the versatile NutriBullet.
