A Few Lifestyle Tips for Females to Follow
to Stay Healthy on a Budget

By Virgis Eva

Groceries, utility bills, clothes, transportation, education of kids and lots more encompass your monthly budget. Given so much to spend on, you may naturally think how you could perhaps pay for a physical trainer or the regular supply of whey protein. In such situations, most of the females give up their idea of staying fit and healthy and continue gaining weight and become more vulnerable to diseases.

Well, there are a few specific ways in which you can get your fitness results just as you want and yes, on a budget. All you will need is:

  • A little effort
  • Some creativity and
  • Lots of diligence and discipline.

With these, the results will continue to come. As it is said, where there is a will there is a way.

How you spend

Just like any other woman, you too will have your own choices. Your lifestyle will play a significant role in your fitness endeavor and therefore you should first take a moment to look at your lifestyle. Why? This is because others may not understand your need for high consumption of nutritious food, supplements and protein powders. You are the best and therefore it all depends on how YOU see it and spend your money on.

For example you can spend $160.00 on a cart filled with:

  • Boxed potatoes
  • Sugary cereal
  • Processed meats and foods
  • Canned Hamburger Helper
  • Beer
  • Soda and
  • A wide assortment of French bread and pastries from the bakery.

On the other hand, you can spend a total of $100.00 as well on items such as:

  • Highly nutritious food
  • Chicken
  • Beef
  • Eggs
  • Oatmeal
  • Fresh fruits and veggies.

Do you get the idea? Well, you spend less on nutritious food that will save both your health, wallet as well as help you to stay on your fitness path. Your lifestyle and your health go hand in hand.

Considering the big picture

Maintaining a fast lifestyle is essential given the current harsh economic times and scenario. You will need to devote much time on your career and profession to earn more money than give it to cooking good food at home. Therefore, it is elementary that you will tend to fall for those processed and packaged foods that are extremely harmful for your health.

However, while suffering from the hard economic times this is not easy and therefore you will end up making such poor food choices just like any other. This will cost you more not only in terms of money but also in terms of your health, happiness and overall wellbeing.

Simply put, this is not desired.

There are a few alarming facts about the lifestyle of people, male or female. According to study by United States Department of Labor it is seen that:

  • On an average a consumer spends about $2,505.00 eating away from home and
  • An average American female having a busy lifestyle spends about $5.00 a day on soda, fast food or candy

When the bodybuilders are considered it is seen that most of them make their own food ahead of time and carry it with them on the go. This in turn not only saves money but also protects their health.

In the same line, if you look at the people who choose to live a healthy lifestyle spend money on supplements. This they justify because they spend a lot on prescription drugs for every pain and ache, for diabetes and of course obesity due to poor diets.

Focusing on fitness

Both male and female focuses on fitness nowadays in order to cope up with their health issues in spite of their busy schedule and an intense lifestyle. The benefits of exercise are many such as:

  • It makes you look good
  • It makes you feel fresh and energized
  • It lowers the chances of requiring medications or expensive medical care
  • It affects your daily activities in positive ways
  • It improves your self-image and therefore how others see you in turn and most importantly
  • You are happier with yourself as well as the people in your life.

In addition to that, there are other rewards from your fitness endeavors and that include:

  • Improved sleep at night
  • Leading more disciplined life
  • Following your daily routine more enthusiastically
  • Be more dedicated to your work to complete it on time
  • Get a continual supply of energy
  • Be more productive and
  • Will be less likely to fall sick.

Therefore, this will not only keep you healthy but will also make you a darling to your employer.

Tips to follow

Keep your grocery bills in check, though it is true that you will have to buy a lot of things to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Fish, milk, chicken, fruits and veggies can put a dent in our wallet very quickly. Consider different cheap alternatives such as:

  • Liquid eggs so that the yolks are not wasted
  • Brown and white rice that is filling and very inexpensive and
  • Casein in place of costly cottage cheese.

You must always think out of the box. Work out a deal with the shop you visit regularly and buy mostly from the small mom and pop businesses. Locally grown produce and buying when the days’ catch arrives from the local farmers in a weekend fresh market or on the roadside will also save you a considerable amount of money.

Try before you buy

No matter what product you buy, you should always try it out before you buy. If you want to buy a protein powder you may not be able to try it out as you can while buying a dress or a bra to find the smallest bra size for yourself, there are other useful ways to do it.

The best way to do it is to look and ask your fellow gym-goers. Ask not only about their likes and dislikes but also be bold enough to ask to do a trade. See whether the person swears by it to be sure that it is really the ‘best.’ Make an offer to do a swap to test it. You can never go wrong this way.
