5 Importance of Wearing a Sports Bra

Whether they would prefer to let their breasts hang free, they worry about the potential impacts of compressing them or they simply do not want to invest in a proper sports bra, many women choose not to wear sports bras when exercising, especially those with smaller chests. However, even if your breasts don’t feel like they are moving around or cause any immediate discomfort, making sure you wear well-fitted sports bras every time you exercise is essential to preventing unwanted consequences in the long-term.

1. Injury

Have you been feeling inexplicable pain in your back, shoulders, and chest after you work out? Remember, your breasts are made of fat and fluid, not muscle, so they might be to blame. Your back and shoulders have to hold up your unsupported breasts while they bounce around when, which can lead to soreness or even injury. Even if you have a smaller chest, you have probably experienced this to some extent. You might even find yourself cupping your breasts or cutting a workout short if you are uncomfortable enough, which is frustrating and can be embarrassing. Sports bras keep your chest from moving to eliminate discomfort and make your workouts more enjoyable.

4. Unwanted Attention

Sadly, bouncing breasts can lead to discomfort in more ways than one. You probably want to be left alone to enjoy your workout, but you might be subjected to some uncomfortable stares if you don’t lock your breasts in place with support and compression. As much as we should be free to exercise in peace regardless of our choice in apparel, the sad truth is that sports bras can significantly reduce unwanted attention. On the flip side, cute sports bras are a fashion statement, so they might attract plenty of compliments from your close friends, giving you the kind of attention you want instead of the kind you don’t.

5. Athletic Performance

If you’re injured, uncomfortable, and worried about sagging, you might have trouble pushing yourself in your favorite sports. You won’t run as fast or jump as high if you have to cup your breasts to keep them from bouncing painfully, and your endurance might decrease as well. If you injure your back and shoulders, weightlifting is out, too, so you might be taking quite a few unplanned rest days. Sports bras are designed to support you so that you have one less thing to worry about during your favorite athletic activities.

Sports bras are fashionable additions to any wardrobe, and they are sure to make your athletic performance even better and more enjoyable. They help prevent injury and discomfort, which already makes them a worthwhile investment. When you add in the prevention of sagging and the switch from unwanted attention from strangers to compliments from friends, sports bras are an absolute necessity that can help you become stronger, more confident and more comfortable, both inside the gym and in your daily life.
