How to use CBD for the First Time: Important Tips

How to use CBD for the First Time

When it comes to using CBD oil for the first time, you should put the date on everything, and if it truly matters to you, timestamp it as well. It will be significant in your future when it comes to all the data you've gathered over the years. Tips provided by bioMDplus.

For example, keep notes on if you start with 2 mg. What do you feel in the first few minutes after taking it? Throughout the rest of the day? Do you notice little changes coming on either immediately or overtime? Do you feel alert or drowsy? Is there immediate pain relief, or gradual?

These are all important notes for your personal history. CBD oil aids in reducing inflammation. If you don't feel immediate relief, keep at it. Explore what works for you. Start slow and go from there.

Why This Is Important for Humans

This list gives us laypeople a categorized tree of potential ways the human body may absorb CBD when taken orally. The main goal is to get the beneficial plant into your bloodstream so you can get the pain relief you are seeking.

Something that works for me may not work for you. My friend Robert, on the other hand, loves, and I mean lovescoffee and chocolate. Maybe capsules or drops work better for you. No two people are alike. This list gives us multiple ways to explore what works for each of us at our own pace.

Let's look at the five most common ways to take CBD oil orally

This list is in no particular order, and it is not comprehensive. They all are fairly common, so there is no need to put them in order.

  1. Gummies
  2. Sprays
  3. Capsules/tablets
  4. Oil drops
  5. Beverages

CBD Oil Drops

A person can use CBD oil in a multitude of ways to find relief from various symptoms, but first, it needs to be harvested and extracted. The oil comes from the hemp (male) plant, and it can be manufactured synthetically, as well. Synthetic may or may not be any good, but I’ll stick with the real thing.

Harvesting CBD oil is a process where extraction solvents are used to separate and collect CBD oil from seeds and stalks. Testing the extracted oil for CBD (cannabidiol content) is the next step in the process. This is how the content and quality of the extract is determined. The oil goes through additional processing before it is used. See the endnotes page for additional information.

At the moment, oil has become the preferred way to take CBD for many medicinal uses. This is because that method has been around the longest and is the most well-known.

So you know, concentrated extracts allow for the consumption of larger doses of cannabinoids in easily digestible forms. With CBD oil, there is no risk of intoxication (getting high), so higher doses of it may be taken (within the parameters that work for you, of course).

Some people prefer a holistic approach to health and may worry about the stigma associated with using "pot." In fact, CBD isn’t pot, and CBD oil has no odor that would lead a CBD user to be mistaken as a cannabis user. You can use it discreetly in pretty much any social setting.

The great thing about oils and tinctures is that it is easy to measure the amount you want to take regularly by counting drops or measuring volume.

Inhaling CBD

There are basically two methods for using CBD by inhaling. There are others, but those are for another book on more advanced topics. For this book, we will focus on smoking the physical plant itself and using vapes. I'll explain both methods, but they are essentially the same: inhalation.

If you aren’t a smoker, I don't necessarily recommend smoking CBD cigarettes. However, I do agree that vaping might be an excellent alternative to smoking the plant. Both take some getting used to. Smoking is an acquired taste and isn’t for everybody.

On the flip side, if you are a smoker or ex-smoker and don't mind smoking pre-rolled CBD

joints, this might be an excellent way for you to get the benefits of the plant quickly.

Once you get past your first time smoking or coughing, smoking CBD isn't a big deal. Again, smoking is an acquired taste and habit, but it is generally a good way to take CBD.

Topicals CBD Products - What Are They?

When it comes to pain relief for muscle aches or spasms, arthritis, joint pain, back pain, and so on, ointments like Bengay or Biofreeze are called topicals. Hand lotion for dry hands, for instance, is topical.

CBD-Infused Topicals

Today, we have topicals infused with CBD. These topicals are CBD-infused lotions and oils absorbed through the skin to relieve local pain, soreness, and inflammation.

Because they're not psychoactive, (meaning you don't get high), patients can get the therapeutic benefits of the plant without the high or euphoria associated with other vehicles like Mang and smoking by using CBD-infused topicals.

A word about strain-specific topicals: these attempt to harness certain terpenes and cannabinoids in a specific chemical profile because they affect the body and brain in different ways. Along with the CBD and other cannabinoids, topical producers and manufacturers will then include other ingredients and essential oils for added benefits, such as cayenne pepper, wintergreen, and cloves to create a new cannabis-infused product.
