How to Take Good Care of Your Feet?
Do not wait for foot problems to surprise you but instead fall back upon preventive foot care that should be a part of your routine. Washing your foot with soap and water and then drying it, especially between the toes, is the most basic foot care technique that keeps your feet healthy. To soften the skin, use some moisturizer. Shoes are to blame for most of the foot problems by either too tight that bites at the toes or wearing the same shoe constantly and not giving it time to air out and dry. Moist leather can cause fungus in the foot as bacteria growth spreads through it and causes athletes foot. According to the Guelph Podiatrist, common problems like bunions, corns, and hammertoes can happen due to wearing shoes that fit too tight or do not feel comfortable.

Maintain smooth feet
Keep the skin of your feet smooth by regular filing and rubbing pumice stone on calluses and damp heels. Soak your foot in the water for 10-15 minutes and then use a pumice stone to rub the heels gently. Soak your foot in warm water mixed with black tea that contains tannic acid, which is an anti-bacterial agent that can reduce the chances of acquiring athlete’s foot. Foot scrubs made from crushed fruits, chemical exfoliators, and sugar also help in dead skin removal. Heel creams and balms that contain urea and salicylic acid can soften tough calluses.
For dry heels, seek treatment from a podiatrist if it is terrible; otherwise, use some moisturizing cream to soften the skin. To soften calluses when you walk, you can apply some medicated heel pads that are available without a prescription. After exfoliating, the calluses use a moisturizer to soften the heel skin. Ensure that the cream contains some emollient or lactic acid that helps moisture to penetrate the skin.
If you have mild athlete's foot, you can treat with some over the counter anti-fungal cream that is available in various other forms like liquids, lotions, lacquers, and spray powders. However, these will not work for the toenail fungus that is difficult to treat. Anti-fungal medicine contains tolnaftate, terbinafine, ciclopirox, miconazole, or clotrimazole as the active ingredient. These are all highly effective in treating the condition. If you have dry feet, look for an antifungal lotion, but for sweaty feet, you must use powders containing aluminum chloride hexahydrate to keep the feet dry. Maintaining good hygiene is the best way to prevent fungus or other foot ailments.
If you need to stand for long hours to make your feet sore, try to make your shoes more comfortable using insoles. Preferably use insoles that have a plastic shell at the bottom that provides more strength for proper support.
If you go barefoot or wear sandals, apply sunscreen of SPF of at least 30 on the top of your feet to prevent sun exposure.
