How to Grow Personally When You Have Anxiety

Prioritizing personal growth is something that can take a lifetime, but if you have anxiety, it can be even harder. The good news is there are several ways to make learning important in your life. When you intentionally try to enrich your life in this way, you will likely be happier and have more success.

Taking Care of Your Health

When you have anxiety, taking care of your health – both mentally and physically – becomes even more critical. You need to prioritize the things that are good for you, not just what’s easy. When you treat yourself with respect and care, you can foster individual development. Helping yourself grow personally requires you to be committed and have plenty of self-discipline, and the same is true of taking care of your body. You'll want to get enough exercise and eat a more balanced diet. Take steps to control your anxiety, especially during big moments. One way of doing so is to consider prescription beta-blockers on an as-needed basis during big moments. Using beta blockers for performance anxiety will block shaking hands, racing heart, and other symptoms of nerves.

Continue Learning

Having the desire to learn can be a powerful motivator in helping you gain new, useful skills and it can positively impact your professional life. You can study or read to enrich your mind, or you might choose to have conversations with others to gain knowledge. Education might feel like a luxury that you don’t have the time or money for. However, you can find many free resources on the internet and at your local library. There are opportunities if you look for them. You might try to carve out moments in your day for learning, such as listening to an educational lecture on your way to and from work.

Experiencing New Things

Look for ways to volunteer since this is a great way to both do something good and learn something new. You'll also get some important perspective on your own life. You can learn skills through volunteering that you might never have learned otherwise. And when you help others, you can improve your worldview and your ability to empathize with others. Another way to learn and grow is to travel since it can help you gain a different perspective. It's easy to forget about other people and places that are a lot different than the culture you are used to. By traveling, you can challenge your senses and mindset, leading to growth.

International travel is often best if you are looking for as much growth as possible, but even going to a different state or city can lead to more growth. It could be enough to help you feel more creative or inspire your happiness. By being more creative, you can become more self-aware, and that can lead to more development. You don’t have to be skilled, but you will likely find it’s all about the process, not the end result. Having an outlet to express yourself can be helpful.
