A Primer for Internal Body Cleansing and Detoxification
By Christine Dreher, CCN, CCH
Why do we need to cleanse? Most people spend so much time and effort cleansing their external environment, i.e., their bodies, clothes, houses, cars, etc. but do not spend enough or any time cleansing their internal environment: their blood, intestines, kidneys, lungs, liver, etc. With the evolution of modern society, the internal body is being stressed even more than ever before and overloaded with chemicals, toxins, air pollution, radiation. Then there are the toxins we ingest through our mouths: the processed and de mineralized foods, herbicides, pesticides, food colorings, preservatives and greasy, acidic based foods. These poisons can cause excessive stress on the entire physiology of our bodies, weakening our immune systems, digestive systems and eliminative organs. Once these systems are weakened, the other glands and organs become weakened and stressed, resulting in chronic and degenerative diseases.
When our bodies are clean and strong, they are able to eliminate toxins, but when they become overloaded, they become sluggish and more susceptible to disease. When the body manifests discomfort and symptoms of imbalance (headaches, indigestion, gas, fatigue, aches and pains, just to name a few), most people try to cover up the symptoms or cure them with more chemicals, instead of seeking the cause of the imbalanced system. As the first trouble indicators are often suppressed or ignored, the body's signals of problems becomes louder with more serious health problems, due to the continuous overload of toxicity in the body. Eventually, when the system becomes stagnant and can no longer rid itself of toxins, chronic illness can manifest.
Malabsorption is a condition that occurs when the body can no longer properly absorb nutrients, due to congestion and toxicity. According to Bernard Jensen, "Every tissue is fed by the blood, which is supplied by the bowel. When the bowel is dirty, the blood is dirty." Before spending time and money consuming quality natural food products and nutritional supplements, the body needs to rid itself of toxins and encumbering waste material. It is simple: detoxify and then rebuild properly. A good analogy would be that when you change the oil in your car, you need to drain out the old, dirty oil first. By draining out the old oil first, then adding the new, the car run smoother and the engine will run better.
Dr. Anderson explains the importance of internal cleansing in his books, "Cleanse & Purify Thyself (Book One: The Cleanse)" and "Cleanse & Purify Thyself (Book Two: Secrets of Radiant Health and Energy)."
Once the bowel becomes toxic, then the blood can become toxic. The blood coming from the bowel, carrying the necessary nutrients to feed the heart, lungs, brain, muscles, etc. is filtered by the liver. Then the liver must filter out the toxins from the blood. After years of accumulative toxicity from the bowel, the liver becomes more and more sluggish. This can result in the liver no longer functioning efficiently and toxic overloads begin to go to other parts of the body, such as the kidneys, heart, brain, joints, skin, Iymph, etc. Disease manifests where the toxins settle. For when there is toxic settlement, there is lack of circulation, lack of oxygen and nutrients."
Dr. Anderson further points out that, "There are only four primary causes of disease: suppressed negative emotions, lack of nutrients, toxins, and congestion." Generally, all four of these conditions are present in almost every disease, and are reflected in the acid/alkaline balance of the digestive system. This is easily measured with a simple "pH" test, as described in my book, "The Cleanse Cookbook." A vast majority of people today test over-acid, and have developed significant layers of "mucoid plaque." Some test over-alkaline, which may reflect Candida and even more serious health deterioration, a further progression from long-standing over-acidity.
Effective cleansing and body detoxification is the key to a healthy, balanced system. By eliminating the toxic accumulation, the causes of many health problems are also eliminated. The body is then able to fight off infections and bacterial invasions more efficiently. According to Bernard Jensen, "It is the bowel that invariably has to be cared for first, before effective healing can take place."
Benefits of Cleansing
It is amazing how quickly people respond to a simple and effective cleanse program. The number one report we hear is that people have more energy. The second most common testimony has been a freedom from negative thoughts and feelings - particularly, people report feeling "closer to God". It is common to feel an increased sense of well-being, greater mental clarity, release from pains and many diseased symptoms. The testimonies we hear from clients reflect a broad spectrum of benefits ranging from basic through profound, and may include: skin, hair and eye improvement, all the way to resolving chronic pain and serious life threatening conditions.
The internal body cleanse process is far more than just a colon cleanse; it begins by promoting the cleansing of the entire small intestine, then the colon, and the stomach. As the cleanse works it's "magic," toxic accumulations are eliminated from the alimentary canal and then toxic overloads start releasing from the liver, kidneys, and lymphatic system. This allows the entire body to detoxify and function more efficiently.
The liver is one of the main keys to good health and vitality. There are over 500 known functions of the liver, many of which are essential for life, all of which are essential for good health and vitality. It is almost impossible for any disease condition to develop until the liver becomes sluggish and weak. But long before the liver begins to weaken, the bowel can become excessively toxic and sluggish. One of the greatest health needs in the world today is for doctors and their patients to learn that the liver plays an essential part in all health and disease conditions and that the two primary causes of liver problems are the overload of toxins from the bowel and suppressed negative emotions. Until the bowel is cleansed it is almost impossible to cleanse, purify, and strengthen the liver, and until the liver has been cleansed and strengthened, overcoming disease can be difficult.
The good news however, is that it is relatively easy for the average person to cleanse the colon, which releases the toxic overload from the liver. By cleansing and detoxifying our bodies, these toxins and congestion can be removed, and then our nutritional reserves replenished. In order to effectively cleanse and detoxify, it is essential to remove accumulated mucoid plaque from the bowel, and toxic congestion from the liver, then the process of rebuilding these two vital life-giving organs can begin.
As a Nutritionist & Cleanse Coach, I have witnessed the benefits of Internal Cleansing obtained by our clients over the past 13 years. I have also experienced the benefits of Internal Colon cleansing for myself. I recommend that everyone living in today’s modern world find a cleanse program and level of cleansing that they are comfortable with and start there. I also recommend rebuilding the body with a whole-food, natural diet, natural, whole-food nutritional supplements and not allowing emotional and mental baggage to accumulate.
