The CBD Boom and Popularity of Edibles

By Cecilia Sturm

Cannabidiol (CBD), with its growing popularity and availability, is proving itself as a safe and powerful organic solution that is making waves in the medical world. You can find products in many forms including: lotions, tinctures, oils as well as a plethora of edibles like gummies and even beef jerky. The current forecasts are reporting the growth of CBD to be in the range of 700% by the year 2020 with market numbers predicted to grow to over 2 billion by 2020. In fact, the entire cannabis industry could reach 57 billion by 2027 with edibles finishing on top in popularity.

It is now becoming clear why ancient doctors, shamans and natural healers long ago turned to cannabis to treat their patients. This is not necessarily a new concept, it has just been surrounded by the idea that marijuana, hemp, weed, cannabis, hash, etc. was a harmful gateway drug, but the truth is finally coming out, and will only continue to prove itself and why it demands some attention and respect.

There are so many health benefits attained from this plant. Here are some key benefits:

  • Pain relief caused by many different issues
  • Anti-Seizure Properties
  • Anxiety Relief
  • Help Prevent and Fight Cancer
  • Reduce the Risk of Diabetes
  • Insomnia and Depression

CBD products are proving to be versatile in providing healing from a wide range of ailments that many suffer from. One of the most intriguing aspects of these products is the fact that healing can be achieved in all walks of life, from a new born baby to your grandmother, and everyone in between. Even your dog. Product lines for man’s best friend will only continue to expand almost as quickly and as explosive as when the whole legal CBD market came on the scene.

The known benefits being concluded by study after study continues to prove all the ways this once frowned upon natural substance, that was surrounded by so much stigma, is now changing our health and lives worldwide as many reputable, prominent companies are working hard to give consumers access to the highest quality of hemp-derived products that provides stellar benefits with very little, to no side effects.

The hemp movement is opening doors to those who, until now had no other option than to rely on OTC drugs that do not provide much help and or prescription medicines that caused more damage than healing in some cases. Green sustainable hemp-based products and technologies will continue to have a positive effect on our world and issues. It really is exciting time for all those cannabis supporters who have been making these claims for ages.

Foods containing cannabis known as edibles have emerged as a popular and lucrative facet of the legalized market of both medicinal and recreational cannabis. Ingesting edibles is a safe and effective means of attaining the therapeutic effects of cannabis, without exposing themselves to any of the harmful risks smoking it contains.

When it comes to edibles, it is important to note that when ingesting CBD edibles, there is delaid reaction of how quickly the drug takes effect. So it is a good idea to educate yourself on proper dosage and give yourself time for the effects to begin without taking more than recommended. Although CBD is natural and very healing, too much of anything is still too much and can be harmful.

Hotels and restaurants are even beginning to tap into the CBD market by adding edibles to their menus featuring foods like ice cream sundaes, candies, cocktails even meatballs all made with CBD. Within the next 5 years we will probably be seeing CBD edibles in almost every gas station, grocery store, hotel and restaurants all around the US. Not only will we be able to enjoy the medicinal effects, with the continued legalization on recreational use, we will be able to use CBD not for a “high”, but as a way to relax and chill out naturally.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is just one of the 80 plus natural compounds found in Cannabis sativa or the marijuana plant, but it will not produce psychoactive effects or a “high”. This is what makes CBD from Hemp legal in all 50 United States and legal to purchase online without a prescription.

CBD and its potential is changing the face of health care and its role of treating many common health issues, including anxiety, depression, acne, heart disease and even provides a natural alternative for pain and symptom relief. This research is ongoing, so new therapeutic uses for this natural remedy are sure to be discovered.

Although there is still much to be learned, results continue to show that CBD provides a safe and powerful natural treatment for many health issues. CBD product are a seriously effective alternative to toxic prescriptions drugs and over-the-counter drugs that contain harsh chemical compounds that seem alien to nature and natural remedies.
