How to Take Better Care of Your Body

By Elliot Caleira

It’s easy to forget to take care of ourselves. As we all get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our busy lives, we tend to eat more fast food, and exercise and sleep less. Overtime, we may realize that we aren’t looking or feeling our best. This is the best time to revisit the basics of self-care. Take a look at this list and decide for yourself what you have been neglecting to do to take care of yourself. These 9 vital beauty rituals can help you to better take care of your body...

1. Drinking water

This may seem insignificant, but since your body is made up of 75% water, drinking 8 cups of water a day can improve your appearance and body function drastically. If you suffer from acne, drinking more water can help clear up your skin. Replacing your soda with a glass of water can also help decrease your sugar intake causing you to take in less calories in a day.

2. Exercising

Maintaining a regular exercise program can help you to lose weight and also releases endorphins that will make you happier in your everyday life. If you are struggling to find time, start with exercising for 10 minutes a day.

3. Starting a skincare routine

Using a cleanser and a moisturizer every day is a good way to start having beautiful skin and fighting signs of aging. Also, adding an exfoliator once a week will help remove the dead skin that has accumulated and give your skin a nice natural glow.

4. Eating a balanced diet

This is probably the most important thing you can do to take care of your body. Not only will it help the inside of your body but it can also affect how you look on the outside. When our organs are functioning properly it helps our skin, hair, weight and all the things that we are concerned about on the outside. If you don’t feel like you have time to prepare healthy food each day, consider prepping your meals on Sunday, so that a healthy option will be ready for you each day.

5.Taking Vitamins

Sometimes a balanced diet will not give you all the nutrients that you need and adding extra vitamins can give you what you need.

6. Body scrubs

Using a body scrub while in the shower will help remove the dead skin from your body and gives your body glowing, soft skin. You may want to give this a try if you struggle with dry, itchy skin.

7. Going to a sauna

Going to the sauna can help remove toxins out of your body which can help keep you from getting sick. It can also help relieve stress and relax your muscles and joints.

8. Natural tanning

Laying out in the sun can give your body a natural glow. More importantly, it can also give you the vitamin D that your body needs without having to take a vitamin D supplement. As an extra bonus, you can spend time with your friends while doing this.

9. Spa day

Going to the spa once or twice a month can help relax your body and can help boost your overall health. Getting pampered and taking care of your body can help you to be calmer and in turn may improve your relationships.

All of these tips will, if applied, help improve how you feel. If you aren’t doing anything on this list, start by choosing one way you can take better care of yourself. Once you have made that a daily habit, choose another. Continue to do this until taking care of your body is a daily ritual.
