Breathe! Reasons Why You Need to Take a
Break from Everyday Life

Breath

This hectic pace of life doesn't suit many of us. We think we can keep it up and we do that for a long time but at one point, we'll simply feel mentally overwhelmed with all things we have to do and everything we have experienced in a short period.

There are so many reasons why we would need an outlet to decompress and get rid of the negativity and confusing thoughts that have been burdening us. Our everyday lives are chaotic too often, and here are the reasons why you need to stop and take a deep breath from time to time.

1. You'll miss out on the people that matter

If you have become too involved in your job, you may have probably lost the track of how much time you spent with the people close to you. When you dedicate yourself too much to your work obligations, you won't even notice that you have become detached from the lives of the ones you love.

We are social creatures and we need others to feel good, safe and emotionally healthy. Depriving yourself of the time with friends and family will only make you feel miserable over a longer period. If you notice they stopped trying to meet up with you or asking you when you're going to come home, it's time to stop and rethink your actions.

2. You'll become less physically active

take a break

If you're swamped with work, you probably have to spend most of your working hours sitting at your computer. A sedentary lifestyle isn't healthy at all, and you will deprive yourself of some healthy forms of exercise. Let's be clear - working out isn't just about looking fit; it's so much more. Regular physical exercise keeps your heart healthy, as well as many systems on your body. Moreover, it's incredibly good for your mental health and your good mood because it releases endorphins.

3. Your passions won’t be your outlet

Remember when you used to immensely enjoy your hobby and do it regularly? No matter if it was playing chess, doing puzzles or simply listening to your favorite CDs, your hobby is what helps you stay focused and stable.

Whenever you feel stuck at work and can't find the right solution, take a break and do something that brings you joy. Remind yourself how good it is to do something you really love. Your brain will shift and you'll come back to work problem with a solution because you will be able to think clearer.

4. You're in danger of a burnout

burnout

Sometimes everything simply goes the wrong way. Your obligations have piled up and you can't get control of them anymore; you are working days and nights but you still don't feel like you're near the end of it all. These are the moments when many people experience burnout - they feel completely physically and emotionally exhausted. Some may even get sick or end up in a hospital - they need some rest so bad.

To prevent burnout from happening, you have to be one step ahead. Listen to your body, pay attention to physical and emotional warnings. If you have trouble sleeping, if you're feeling anxious or angry, it's time to take a break. Do something for your mind and body right there and then. Have a deeply relaxing massage that will help you clear your mind and ease the pain in your body. Professionals like those in Movement 101 know exactly what type of massage a person needs when they listen to your story and know your physical issues. If possible, take a whole day and spend it on yourself. Add a spa if you like, go for swimming or simply read a book. Allow your body and mind to ease down before it all becomes too much.

5. Your diet can get worse

When you are too obsessed with things you have to do and you're constantly in a rush, no wonder you will have a poor diet. Food is needed for our bodies and our brain equally. You need to be mindful of what you are putting into your body. Fast food and sugary snacks which save you some time will do you no good in the long run.

You need to come up with a plan on how to have a healthy diet despite the obligations. It would be best if prepared your own food but there are other alternatives in case you really don't have time for it. Many food deliveries offer healthy meals and there's no reason why you shouldn't have a proper meal even if you are swamped with work.

Final comment

Stop and breath before things get out of control. Your everyday life has to have some moments of peace and clarity. Only then will you be able to tackle the challenges life throws at you every single day.
