How to Beat Holiday Stress This Season

The holidays are a time of joy, laughter and cheer, but can unfortunately also come with a lot of stress. Between figuring out travel plans, making a holiday budget and figuring out what to gift your loved ones, feelings of stress can start to pile on during this busy time of year. To help minimize stress levels so you can enjoy the most wonderful time of the year, check out some of the tips below.

1. Go for a Walk 

Walking has been proven to increase our endorphins which help boost our mood and energy levels. Aside from the mood boost, daily walks are great for keeping ourselves active during the holiday season. Walking is a great way to get your whole family involved to spend some quality time while still getting exercise in. Don’t forget to wear proper shoes and grab your down jackets so you’re cozy and comfortable during your holiday strolls!

2. Practice Some Yoga

Yoga is known to be a relaxing practice that can help restore your energy and lift your spirits. What better way to relieve some stress than with a good yoga routine? Attend a class or follow along to an instructional video online. Pick a class you like depending on your skill level and what kind of flow you’re looking for. Yoga a few times a week is a great way to boost your mood when the stress of the holidays starts to creep in. 

3. Meditate Daily 

Even just 5 minutes of mediation can help relieve unwanted feelings of stress and anxiety. Find a quiet place in your home or outside where you can spend at least 10-15 minutes in complete stillness. Focus on slow and controlled breathing and allow your mind to peacefully wander. If you’re a beginner, try a guided mediation that’s geared towards stress relief. If you can, meditate in the mornings so you’re able to start your day off with peaceful and balanced energy.
