Self Healing and Gratitude
By Jeanie Marshall
Gratitude is a powerful healing agent for the one who is grateful, thankful, or appreciative.
I sometimes hear people recommend using gratitude as a "technique," but I don't see it that way. To me, gratitude is an energy, a consciousness, a way of being. I suppose it has some similarities of a technique, as it can be learned and enhanced.
When people use it as a "technique," they send out a mixed vibration if they expect a return for their gratitude. For those who are just learning to express gratitude, there can be some uneasiness or hesitancy, which is quite natural. So, if you are just learning, be gentle with yourself and keep moving yourself into a true space of gratitude. Feel its healing energy. Feel its power.
If you decide you want to use it as a technique, try counting how many times you say "thank you" today and then notice how you feel. Tomorrow, count again and then notice how you feel. Eventually you will feel the gratitude, with or without the counting, and with or without the words. The key is to BE grateful.
A similar energy is "appreciation." That is an energy that is a little less likely to have a contradictory energy or an expectation of return.
When you are truly in a consciousness of gratitude, appreciation, or thankfulness, you realize that you do not need an object of your appreciation. You are experiencing a way of life.
I like to say "thank you" and I say it often. I was taught at a very young age to say it because it was an integral part of my family culture. I started saying it before I could even pronounce the words clearly.
Many people I know, as wonderful as they may be, have considerable opportunity to grow in this area of gratitude and appreciation. I'm sure they just sometimes forget, or they take others' generosity for granted, or they have high expectations of others.
What about you? How grateful are you? How easily do you say "thank you"? How often do you express appreciation? And most important of all, how deeply do you feel gratitude?
I love the flow of gratitude as it comes from me to others. I am thankful, grateful, and appreciative.
