Self-Love, Self-Worth, and Self-Esteem:
Live a More Fulfilling Life
By Victoria Lim
Every time you meet someone from high school, they are bound to ask you “How’s life?” And probably, every time you hear that question, you realize it has been all work and responsibilities for you. We are consumed by our jobs and daily obligations - running to the store, taking care of the kids and family, pleasing our bosses, etc. We simply don’t have enough time to think about ourselves and that can often put us in a depressing and melancholic mood.
The truth is, you have probably lost touch with your own self-love, which is bound to lower your self-esteem, and that is why you need to change things up a bit. Thus, here are some tips that will help you live a more fulfilling life that will always provide you with confidence and self-love, no matter how dull your day was.
Prioritize your time
Since we are always on the go and rushing throughout the day, you need to learn to prioritize your time. Wisely. Life moves fast and there is little time for everything and that is why you should do the things that mean to you the most first. You can start your days by planning to accomplish something meaningful. List things that you would like to do that day that will make you feel good and fulfilled once the day ends.
Include gratitude in your life
There is a lot of negativity in our world, and by focusing on it you will become negative yourself. That will make you a toxic individual; exactly opposite of what you’re trying to become. The simple solution here is to practice gratitude, which will bring you many benefits, such as optimism, better health, happiness and less stressful days. You can practice this by challenging yourself to write down the things you are thankful for each day or to tell someone why you are thankful for them.
Be real about things and come to peace
You’ve probably fantasized every day about what you would do if you had more money, or what how it would be great if you had this or that and so on. Our collective problem is that we always want more and we are almost never satisfied. That is why you should be realistic about your situation, no matter what it includes and simply come to peace about how things actually are. As soon as you do this, you will feel less stressed, less forced to do things you don’t want to and you will simply be at peace. Such peace is important for our mental health and self-love, so try and embrace it.
We all tend to live in the past and beat ourselves up about the things we did. You have to stop that immediately, and embrace all of your mistakes and live in the present. All those past things will only do damage to your self-worth and self-esteem and that is not treating yourself right. Show some respect and kindness to yourself and you will instantly feel better and more confident. Also, make sure to occasionally treat yourself with a nice bubble bath, some expensive clothes or a nice healthy meal you always wanted to prepare, because you sure do deserve it.
Exercising is not only good for your physical fitness and health, but it majorly impacts your mental one. Find a sport or a gym that you really like, or finally take up those yoga classes and you’ll see how much better you’re going to feel within hours. Exercising helps us relieve stress, it gives us confidence and our overall health simply becomes better. It will clear your head, it will give you that body you always wanted and your self-love and self-esteem will only rise. You can even go further and try a sport you never even considered, like golf for example. You need an insane amount of patience, perseverance, and practice to become good at golf and these three traits are essential for your mental health. For all of you who want to research golfing a bit more, read through the Hombre Golf Club blog which has many useful tips on the topic.
When it comes to eating healthy, that doesn’t mean you have to munch on boring and bland meals every day, like broccoli and steamed chicken. If you really like those two, go for it, but if that’s something you get shivers from, find another way around such meals. If you want to lose weight in order to feel better, and still have a fulfilling life, you can do that with tasty food as well. Cut down on carbs and junk food, and start preparing yourself meals that will make you moan while eating it, and you will find diets and healthy lifestyle more satisfying.
If you have noticed that you are isolating yourself from your friends and family, try and change that. We are social animals and we need human interaction and that is why you should make an effort to connect with people, socialize, smile more and maintain eye contact with them. This will make you become more open to the world and it will lead you to some great connections and relationships. You can even choose to make friends with people of different backgrounds and beliefs which will give you new experiences, information and you will become a well-rounded person.
Living a more fulfilling life will only lead to more confidence, respect, and self-love. Loving and respecting yourself is important because that makes you a better person and you will feel better about yourself.
