The world can get pretty stressful, and sometimes everyone needs a bit of a mood booster. Roughly 77% of Americans experience some kind of physical symptoms that are brought on by stress. Are you part of this statistic?

If so, you might be looking for some ways to get into a better mood. It's not always easy, but there are a few techniques that you can try. Many of them can be done from the comfort of your own living room.

  1. Meditate
    Meditation is all the rage lately, and for good reason. It's a practice that's been around forever, and it can be done with no equipment, no large amount of space, and it can be done almost anywhere.

    Meditation has so many benefits, including the reduction of anxiety and stress, the increase of mindfulness and concentration, and an overall elevated mood.

    Not everyone is on board with the idea of just sitting quietly and thinking about nothing while focusing on breathing, so there are guided meditations for those just getting started. There are apps and entire YouTube channels devoted to this practice.

  2. Exercise
    Exercise is great for the brain, and it doesn't have to be high-energy to be effective. When you exercise, your body releases endorphins. Those endorphins make you feel better almost immediately, even if you're struggling through the workout.

    If you can't exercise in a high-impact way, you can try taking a walk outside (to get the added benefit of vitamin D!) or trying some yoga or pilates indoors.

  3. Vent Just a Little
    While too much venting can lead to poor boundaries and eventual rumination, sometimes it's important to just blow off steam when it comes to your situation. If something is really irritating you, venting to a trusted friend is a great way to lift your mood.

    Make sure your friend is in a good headspace to listen to your venting. They might end up showing you a perspective that you hadn't thought of before!

  4. Consider Outside Help
    Sometimes, if you're down for a really long time, it might feel like nothing is going to get you into a better mood.

    If this is the case, you have a few options. You can seek out a counselor or a therapy group to see if you can work through whatever is causing your struggle. You might also seek out medications.

    You could also try devices, like a CES device to help manage your mood in a new way. It can take a few tries before you find the right fit for you.

  5. Turn on Your Favorite Jams
    Getting in the car and going for a drive with your favorite music playing can be an awesome cure for the temporary blues. If you have favorite songs with fast rhythms or poppy beats, these are going to be your best bets.

    Dancing around a bit and getting your blood pumping while you listen won't hurt either. Remember, endorphins!
