5 Ways to Improve Your Self Love
Life can be so hard sometimes and it is really easy to get down on yourself and talk negatively about yourself. You would probably never talk to anyone else like how you talk to yourself so it is time to turn over a new leaf and start being more compassionate and loving towards yourself.
Being self loving doesn’t mean that you have to be self absorbed or that you are super narcissistic, it just means that you take care of yourself in a healthy manner and respect yourself enough to be kind to yourself.
Here are 5 different things you can do to improve your self love:
If you think about this logically for a moment, you are the only one who is with you every second of every single day. This never stops so you see the absolute worst and the absolute best of yourself. With other people you probably only see the very best version of themselves.
What usually ends up happening is that you end up comparing your worst with someone else’s best. That is completely unfair so take a step back and realize that you are allowed to make mistakes and be different from other people.
Be Rigorously Honest
If you are constantly lying to yourself and are trying to cover things up you are really just practicing self sabotage. This means that you are covering and numbing both the good and the bad parts of who you are as a person which is exhausting and takes so much effort.
To make progress you are going to have to be honest with yourself. Maybe you are a little too hard on yourself when it comes to certain things or maybe you get really upset when you don’t do things right on the first try. Being honest gives you a realistic perspective of where you are and what you can improve on.
Be Authentic and Vulnerable
This is one of the most courageous and important things that you could ever do with yourself and is a form of self love. Practicing being vulnerable means that you are aware of your emotions and you can name what you are feeling. It means you can dig down deep in the not so comfortable emotions and explore them while learning more about yourself while also realizing that you are human and need to heal from past and current experiences.
Be Kind to Yourself
There are a lot of different ways you can be kind to yourself. A great one is to practice self care, which just means doing things that rejuvenate you and bring you peace and joy. Some people will get massages while other people will diffuse essential oils when they get home. Whatever you decide on doing make sure it is helping you to recharge.
Be Patient with Yourself
It is common for people to set goals and want to achieve them right away. This is usually doesn’t happen and something will go wrong or a mistake will be made and they stop trying to achieve the goal all together. This is not a healthy approach to goals and you shouldn’t be doing this on a regular basis.
What is helpful is understanding that the goal is progress not perfection. You don’t have to do everything right all at once but you do have to keep working towards that goal even if you have made mistakes.
