5 Helpful Ways to Feel Comfortable With Yourself

Being uncomfortable with yourself lets in the comparison trip and wondering who you really are. The best cure for being comfortable with yourself is getting to know yourself. Here are some ways you can learn to become comfortable with yourself again.

Practice Self-Care

The most important thing you can do for yourself is to practice self-care on a regular basis on as needed. It's easy to let yourself fall to the wayside, among the lists of must-dos and other priorities. Taking care of yourself is an important part of feeling good about yourself.

Not getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, or eating the right foods can make you feel less than special. Make time for "Me" time each morning in which you can meditate, work out, or just sit there in peace. Make a list of things you should do to take care of yourself so you feel more comfortable in your own skin. It's not another to-do list, just gentle reminders of how important it is to take care of yourself. You feel better about yourself when your own priorities are met.

Meditate Regularly

Want to increase your self-esteem and self-confidence? Meditate. Not only does meditation help reduce stress and anxiety, but it can help you figure out what's missing in your life. It's the secret to feeling good about yourself. When you feel like something is missing in your life, it's because you're not living your life the way you were meant to.

When you feel uncomfortable, you don't know how to be yourself around others. You feel unattractive and awkward around others. If this sounds something like you, consider taking up a regular meditation practice. Even 10 to 15 minutes per day can help you figure out who "you" really are.

Do Things That Make You Happy

Another way to feel better about yourself is to take up a new hobby or return to some of your old hobbies. Do some of the things that make you happy. When you feel uncomfortable about yourself, you don't want to do anything. You get swept up in the bad thoughts and negative feelings.

If you want to sit at home with your cats, that's your prerogative. If that's what makes you feel good, then go for it. If you want to take a dance class or go rock climbing, then do it. If you want to shop on your favorite ecommerce platform, then by all means, go ahead and do it. When you focus on the things you enjoy, you'll feel more like yourself again.

Embrace Your Quirky Personality

Everyone has a quirky personality, even the ones who seem perfect at all times. Embrace your dark sense of humor or your dry sarcasm. That's what makes you-you. Don't apologize for who you are and don't let others put you down.

Learn to love your physical flaws, as well as your personality flaws. Learn to love your curly hair or the freckles on your cheeks. The more you embrace your flaws, the more you feel comfortable with yourself. Everyone has something they don't like about themselves, but those "flaws" is what makes them unique individuals.

Learn How to Be Alone With Yourself

This is an important step to becoming comfortable with yourself. In an era that's filled with smartphones and social media, it's hard to remember what it was like to entertain ourselves 24/7. It makes it even harder to be alone with yourself with people are just an app away.

You need to find time with yourself. That means no smartphone, no social media, no emails, no streaming videos. Just you, your thoughts, and something comfortable. It could be a good book or a warm fuzzy blanket. In order to be comfortable with yourself, you should learn to be alone with yourself.

Becoming comfortable is a practice that takes time. But if you practice some of these tips on a regular basis, you'll increase your self-esteem and self-confidence in ways you never imagined.
