How A Life Coach Can
Help You Find Your Purpose
By Sam Jones
It happens to the best of us: we wake up one day stuck in a rut feeling like our lives are going nowhere and that we have not accomplished much with it. There is this deep empty feeling as though we have not connected with our true purpose in life. So what is one to do when they may feel like there is no hope or nowhere to turn?
In the past, many individuals who would go through this type of experience would seek out the wisdom of a guru and may even venture off into a pilgrimage where they would leave their job, home, and family for many years to find themselves. Fortunately, with the modern era bringing wisdom to our fingertips via mobile devices, we no longer have to look far to get the help we need.
And with people like Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer, and Deepak Chopra synthesizing a lot of this information and making it more accessible in the last twenty years, there has been a rise of a new industry that is making it much easier for people to get the guidance they seek via life coaching.
What Is A Life Coach?
Stated simply, they are someone who can support you along your journey of self discovery and help you get from point A to point B. While some may assume it just has to do with setting goals and accomplishing them, these days the world of coaching has expanded into much more as many of these experts are trained in multiple disciplines such as NLP, hypnotherapy, nutrition, and much more.
To use the analogy of the guru, a coach is somewhat similar in that they have dedicated their life to self improvement and bettering themselves in many aspects of their life including health, finances, career, and love. By learning certain methodologies that allow them to support their clients in their own growth, they are able to perform the service of being a facilitator that can lead you down a path that would otherwise be overwhelming should you go it alone.
How Does Life Coaching Work?
Similar to athletics, a coach can act as a mentor who provides a mixture of guidance and motivation to help you progress towards a desired result. Through the process of what is referred to as chunking, the coach is able to help you see the big picture of what it is you want to create, and then create smaller and more actionable steps to help you achieve your desired result.
Where coaching can be quite beneficial is through providing accountability because many people who may dedicate themselves to radically make a change would otherwise quit along the way, a coach can reignite your determination to make the necessary effort to continue down the path rather than giving up.
Discovering Your Purpose
When you are able to find a life coach who meshes well with your persona and objectives, this person will have the ability to connect with you on a deeper level where they can sense and determine your authentic self. Once they have lead you through a set of questions that helps reveal who you really are and what you are meant to do, they can then use the coaching system to help guide you down a path that will help you find your purpose.
While some may equate this to just helping one to figure out your career path, it really is much more because a coach is thinking about all aspects of your life, not just financial. They understand that in the end you are seeking a balanced life filled with joy, meaning, and abundance and because they have your best interests in mind and heart, they can help you stay on path so that you don't get distracted with things that are not aligned with your true purpose.
For some people, taking many years to find yourself can be an exciting journey especially if you enjoy traveling and adventure. But for others who just want to keep things simple, this is where a life coach can be very beneficial. Long gone are the days where you have to explore the meaning of life for countless years until you have that breakthrough moment. These days, you are just a click away from getting the support you need to creating the life you have always wanted.
