How to Focus Better and Lead a More Productive Life

Focus Better

When was the last time you had a really productive day? For some of the smartest people on Earth, every day can be a productive day. How else would Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs be able to build life-changing products and become billionaires?

So what do you need to do to focus better and overcome anxiety? How can you build a better routine so that you can achieve your full potential and live the life you've always dreamed of?

Here's everything you need to know about how to improve focus.

1. Go to Bed Early

One of the best things you can do to focus better, overcome anxiety, and generally be more productive is to get to bed earlier.

In recent years, numerous books have been written by experts that have revealed that getting enough sleep is integral to virtually everything we do. Without good sleep, we can't concentrate, put anything in perspective or live a meaningful life.

To get to bed earlier you need a good bedtime routine. You can't just fall asleep instantly or go from a really active activity to being unconscious.

Make sure you sleep in a different room to the one in which you work. This is important so that your brain can distinguish between your different environments and get into a mode where you can feel calm and ready to fall asleep.

If having a bath makes you feel better and relaxed then do this before you go to bed with some nice bath salts. An hour or two before you go to bed, sit down and read a book.

Some scientists recommend taking CBD products that help people when they can't sleep. You can buy CBD products here. However, remember to only take them occasionally.

2. Limit Your Social Media Time

With lockdowns happening around the world, many of us are turning to social media to starve of loneliness and burden. But spending too much time on social media can be a drain on our mental resources.

Social media can make us feel jealous and angry for other people's successes and it can distract us from what's important in life.

Try to limit your time on social media if you can. Decide when you are going to check your messages each day and stick to them. Cutting down can help improve concentration and overcome anxiety.

Clear Boundaries

You should get into the habit of only going on social media at specific times. Then people will start to conform to your social media routine rather than you feeling like you have to go on it all the time.

Come off platforms you don't like. Twitter is often cited as one of the worst social media sites. Although you have access to celebrities, most of the time they are making political points or grandstanding. People also use social media websites to spread abuse and hatred.

If you feel this is not for you or you are not making an impact, close it down. This is how to focus better.

If social media is crucial to your business then hire someone who understands your business and your brand to run it for you. Play to your strengths and outsource. This will free up time.

3. Drink Less Coffee and Sugar

Coffee and sugar are stimulants. While taking them might feel like a win in the short term as they give you more energy, the crash afterward is not worth it.

To have a productive day you need some balance. Sugar and coffee first thing in the morning can lead to unproductivity in the afternoon. If you have a drink with high caffeine content in the hours before you go to bed, you can struggle to sleep.

Be mindful of what you consume instead of just eating and drinking for the sake of it throughout the day.

If you go to a restaurant with a friend and they are ordering a sugary drink, it doesn't mean you have to. If there's nothing on the menu that you like or is healthy, order water instead.

If eating out is difficult for you then cook your own food at home and bring a packed lunch so you don't feel the pressure to eat junk food.

Whilst it's important to cut down on your sugar and coffee intake, remember to treat yourself every now and again to keep your motivation levels up.

4. Plan Your Day

Planning your day is very important. If you don't know what your goals are for that day, how can you ever hope to achieve them? You need to make sure you have a clear sense of what you want to get done, what is realistic, and why. Then be sure to only do one task at a time.

If you set yourself unrealistic goals then you can find yourself feeling like you have a mountain to climb and may give up. At the end of the day, you can feel as if your self-esteem has been affected.

Keep a physical calendar to look at in the morning or try inputting your daily routine into a smart home assistant so you don't have to look at your phone first thing in the morning.

How to Focus Better? Be Mindful

How can you focus better on your everyday life? Be mindful. Make sure that you are always aware of what you are doing with your life, how you are spending your time, and why.

If you order food at a restaurant or a cafe be sure to question why you are eating it. Are you eating just for the sake of it? Or because you have genuine needs such as hunger or thirst? Once you are mindful of what you do you can start to make decisions that can make you more productive.
