Eye of Horus – Take a Trip to Ancient Egypt
While You Win Big
Ancient Egypt is not a new theme in the world of online gambling. If you are a regular online gambler, you must have come across this same theme in countless games including poker, blackjack, and, of course, slots. Now, Reel Time Gaming, a standing name in the industry, is attempting to compete with other developers and has delivered a slots game that is focused around the theme of Ancient Egypt.
Eye of Horus is a 5-reel, 10-payline slot game that features symbols comprising of culturally significant characters from Ancient Egypt including the eponymous Eye of Horus and Anubis. While the theme of the game may be a gimmick, overall the game still does have a lot to offer and you forget that the design has become repetitive at this point.
As far as the visuals are concerned, Eye of Horus leaves players wanting for more. Functionality is favored over aesthetic appeal and one doesn’t find the accents and heavy use of graphics that you would normally find in games today. However, that being said, the game’s visuals are still quite crisp which allows for a clear interface. Instead of opting for a more Egyptian themed background score, the developers chose to go with sounds you would hear on an arcade pinball machine.
The symbols are styled and designed quite tastefully and they all come with significant payouts. The six highest valued symbols are the Eye of Horus, Horus’ bird form, Anubis, a blue scarab beetles symbol, two ankhs, and two fans. With the Eye of Horus, you can win up to 500 times your betting amount if you have a five-of-a-kind win. Horus’ bird will give you 300 times payout for the same win, while Anubis reaps a reward of 100 times the betting amount. The blue scarab will pay 250 times your betting amount while the aankhs and fans each pay 200 times the betting amount.
If you have four Anubis symbols in a payline, you get a payout of 200 times your betting amount while having the same win with the Eye of Horus will only give you 125 times the betting amount. This is not to say that the other symbols don’t have payouts, as some combinations can even pay up to 100 times the betting amount.
The game offers an occasional free spins round which is activated when you land three or more of the scatter symbols in view on the reels. You end up getting 12 free spins with a reel modifier which is not available in normal play. If you happen to land an Eye of Horus in any of your spins, you get more free spins. If you get three wilds, you get 5 more free spins. The symbol’s values also grow in free spin mode, meaning your chances of winning big are increased even further.
It is still difficult to say how good a game Eye of Horus really is. It seems to be doing well against its competition as its still available in the market and a fair number of players return to the game as well. With Eye of Horus offered on Kerching, one will have to play the game to truly experience if it’s worth it.
