How to Develop a Financial Abundance Mindset
In life, everything starts with our mindset. Someone with a scarcity mindset will have a completely different outlook on life from a person living with an abundance mindset, and they will experience very different outcomes as well.
For those living in a state of scarcity, life becomes a series of missed opportunities and regrets. But people approaching life from a point of abundance decide to live it to the fullest, are brimming with energy, and beam happiness. But, how can you make the switch from a scarcity mindset to an abundance one?
Thinking Small vs Thinking Big
Those with an abundance mindset aren’t afraid to dream big and have grandiose ideas. People with a scarcity mindset, on the other hand, constantly put limitations not only on themselves, but on others too. They automatically shut down audacious ideas, and prefer security. Those with an abundance are not afraid to take calculated risks.
Lack vs Plenty
People with an abundance mindset also think very differently when it comes to resources. They believe that there are enough opportunities for everyone, and take inspiration from those who did it before them.
People with a scarcity mindset, on the other hand, are the ones who think the system is rigged against them. But guess what? If you despise those with abundance, you’ll become one of them.
Use Debt Wisely
Not all debt is bad debt, and those who know how to use debt wisely can use it to create even more abundance. You also can’t live from an abundance mindset if your finances are in shambles.
If you’re running a business for instance, then an injection of cash could make all the difference, as much as the goal is growth. And even if you feel like you’re limited because of your credit situation, know that there are many other options out there.
For instance, many services online will offer short term loans based on your job income. These loans can then be repaid in as long as 12 months. This could be money used towards a new website, publicity, or leads. Just doing that could be enough to jumpstart your business and put you on the right path.
Appreciate What You Have Now
Do you have a little side business that allows you to pay for a few toys? Be grateful for that. Do you have health, a roof over your head, and food in the fridge? Be grateful for that too. Practicing gratitude every day will slowly change your mindset from focusing on what’s available versus what you can have right now.
Resentment vs Happiness
In the same vein, people with an abundance mindset are happy for the abundance of others. Those with a scarcity mindset resent them, and they also tend to dwell on the past. These are the people who make excuses for what they can’t do by vilifying those who can.
Learn How to Embrace Change
People with a scarcity mentality often risk averse, and therefore seek stability. And they’ll also often ridicule people who dare take risks around them. Those with an abundance mindset, on the other hand, and are not afraid to try and fail. They know that there will be more opportunities, and are not afraid to jump if it’s worth it.
People with a scarcity mindset also tend to reject new ideas, and resist change. Those with an abundance mindset are not afraid to try new ways to do things and new ways to create abundance. They embrace change, and understand that it’s a normal part of life.
Reactive vs Proactive
Having an abundance mindset also means being more proactive than reactive. They don’t wait for things to just happen to them, and they’re less afraid of rejection, as they know that there will always be new prospects.
Being proactive also means taking care of the things that matter. So, if you notice that you’re having difficulty staying afloat with your business, look at where you can cut back both in your operation and personal life, and redirect these savings towards creating growth.
For instance, that extra money could be used to start a side business online while you keep your current position. This way, you’ll have the security a job offers, and won’t be operating your business from a state of fear. Make sure that you save a portion of your regular income, and use it towards growing your business.
Correcting a scarcity mindset is not something that happens overnight. You not only need to dedicate yourself to change, but be able to identify when you’re slipping back into your old way of thinking. So, make sure that you make it a daily habit to focus on your thought patterns, and focus with a heart full of gratitude for all the abundance that is around you.
