Time-Efficient Study

By Bronwyn Leigh

Are you finding yourself procrastinating when it comes to studying? Do you stay up all night, cramming as much as possible for a critical test? Is the amount of study materials overwhelming you? With assignment schedule samples, plan your study time accordingly.

Whether tasked with a function for a specific period or you are just a student, an assignment schedule can come in handy. When there are many things to do throughout the day, write down a plan. Don’t live out your day haphazardly executing activities and feeling unaccomplished by the end of the day.

Write down a plan, allocating each task some ample time to complete. Avoid moments when you forget to do a job due to time running out on you. By organizing your day, you can prepare in advance for specific projects.

Why Should You Schedule Your Work?

Without a working plan, a day’s to-do list tends to overwhelm many people as they bolt into their day like a racecourse. The lucky ones focus on the most pressing issue at the time. But for the unfortunate ones, temporary paralysis engulfs them to a point where they are helpless to undertake any task.

Unfortunately, these methods are the least efficient ways to tackle everyday problems. You’ll end up exhausted and further behind than when you initially started.

Through programming your time, you can prevent the day’s distraction from quickly taking over your workload and causing mayhem. Scheduling, therefore, is an art of planning and prioritizing your agendas while allocating sufficient time to complete each activity and achieve your overall goals.

Scheduling will help you:

  • Allocate enough time for essential tasks
  • Prepare for the unexpected through adding contingency time
  • Balance your life and work
  • Desist from taking more workload than you can handle
  • Fathom the reality of achieving a goal within a given period
  • Dedicate enough time for friends and family
  • Set enough time for hobbies and exercise

Time is a variable resource that can never be bought, nor can we replenish it when we waste it. By planning out your time for the day, week, or month, you will keep track of your progress in accomplishing your set out goals.

How Do You Schedule Your Assignment Workload?

Using the Pomodoro technique can increase your efficiency while studying

Before the start of a new week or month, set a regular time frame to be scheduling your week. You can either choose a scheduler from several different tools to organize your time into a weekly planner or use a paper and pen. There is also a variety of software and apps such as the Google Calendar that suits your budget, your current work structure, and your taste.

After choosing your desired tool of planning, prepare the assignment schedule template as follows:

Step 1: Calculate the Time available
Establish a correct amount of time to work on your tasks. The time should be a reflection of your job design and your personal goals in life.

For example, if you want to increase the quality of your work assignments, work beyond regular hours for each task. Alternatively, you might decide to allocate more time for out of class activities. Whatever the case, use your list of priorities to settle on the right allocation plan.

Step 2: Plan for all Essential Actions
To produce an outstanding homework piece, you need to include all the necessary maintenance actions into your plan. Furthermore, make sure there is enough available time to discuss with other students if it is a group assignment. Have ample time to communicate with each other, dealing with any substantial issues that may arise during research.

Step 3: Make the High-Priority Activities First on the List
While you are working on your to-do list, first determine the most productive times of your day. Then schedule all the urgent tasks and high-priority activities to these productive moments. Remember all other tasks that can neither be avoided nor delegated to others and add them to your timetable.

The most productive moments of the day do differ from person to person. Some people feel most energized in the morning while others feel more focused in the afternoon and in the evening.

Step 4: Allocate Some Time for Unforeseen Emergencies
It is essential to plan out some extra time to deal with any unforeseen contingencies. Your experience in handling various assignments will help you determine the amount of contingency time. In General, the more unpredictable the homework, the more time you’ll need for contingency.

Frequent interruptions can impede your overall progress and eat up your time. Although some disruptions are hard to predict, the emergency time will give you the flexibility to respond to significant issues as they arise.

Step 5: Preserve Some Discretionary Time
Discretionary time is the space left in your planner after you've allocated every activity with its specified time occupation. Use the time to review your prioritized personal goal and the to-do list. Make any necessary re-adjustments to your schedule at that time.

If you find that there is little to no discretionary time available in your timetable, go back to the previous four steps — question whether all the entered tasks are necessary. You might find more efficient ways to tackle some of the unnecessary things in the planner.

Point to Remember
Because you are not a machine, you’ll need time to rejuvenate your body. Set adequate breaks in between tasks and re-energize your mind. Avoid using a smartphone during those breaks.

In Conclusion

By planning a schedule on how to use your time, you’ll reduce your stress levels in addition to maximizing your overall effectiveness. Make sure to have enough discretionary time on your planner if you do not want your work-life balance to suffer.
